The hippies were the first generation of Marxist dupes.
I was around when the 'Hippie" movement started. The "Beatnik" deal was around for a short while before then.
I saw it, I watched it unfold. Hippies just wanted to be left alone. They were more about "Peace, Love and Dope" than anything else. They didn't want to fight in JFK's War in Viet Nam. They just wanted to hang around and smoke dope in between copulating all day.
They were mostly pretty cool. Non-Violent. Non-Confrontational to the max. Very NON-POLITICAL. Very.
Then the communists infiltrated their movement. And like the Left does to everything they touch, they turned it to shit.
Hippies weren't protesters, they were way too mellow for that. They weren't an in-your-face movement.
I was there. I was hanging out in Copley Square and Harvard Square in Boston and watched it all go down. Hippies, real Hippies, were too stoned to protest or march or cause trouble.
But the communist/leftist infiltrators weren't. They were 'True Believers', they were hard-core Marxists and communists with a serious agenda. And they were funded by the USSR. We know this from Glasnost. We read the KGB paperwork. It's not made up.
In all fairness, we funded Anti Government groups in the USSR. Still do in Russia. And I'm sure Russia does in this Country. Less than China does but, they still do. They need to keep their lines of communication open.
Hippies get a bad rap. It was the communist infiltrators that caused all the problems. And that didn't happen until after the Draft Lottery was passed into Law and enacted.
The Draft Lottery was the only victory the communists won during the Viet Nam War. It tool away the Selective Service Board and went strictly by luck, your Draft Lottery Number.
That's when the entitled kids, the ones at Hawvawd, Coloumbia, Michigan etc got excited, They could avoid the Draft by staying College -- Until the Draft Lottery. Richard Nixon's biggest screw-up ever.
That's when the violence started.
The War was all but over. The communists rose up during the Tet Offensive and got their asses kicked. Bigly. Big Time. It was one of the worst military defeats in human history.
In January of 1968, the Viet Cong (Southern Communist guerrillas) invaded 155 Villages, Cities, towns and hamlets holding to a theory that The People would rise up and join them in over-throwing the government.
Not one did. Not a single one. None. In fits of rage at the populace, the VC committed thousands of atrocities agains the people of S Viet Nam.
But they still lost. They lost so bad that they were no longer an effective fighting force. They were no more. They could not longer field a fighting force larger than a couple dozen men here or there. IF they were lucky.
Some believe, as do I, that the North Vietnamese communists knew the VC would get their asses kicked (and, hoo-boy, they did) thereby eliminating them from political competition if and when the North, backed by the Russians NOT the Chinese, won.
communists pulled that shit in WW2 Poland, too. They told the Polish Underground to rise up against the Germans and that the Red Army would double-time their way to Warsaw and link up with them.
They didn't, the Red Army sat outside Warsaw and watched the germans massacre the Polish nationalists by the tens of thousands. That way, when the Russians moved in and took over, they wouldn't have any political competition.
Point being, never trust a communist. Ever. And the dimocrap scum party is the permanent home of communism in the United States. Always has been. Always will be.
