What worries me most about Iran is its theocratic nature. Leaders who view themselves as religious stewards may feel compelled to spread Islam globally — potentially by coercive means. They might even consider using nuclear weapons as leverage or blackmail to advance that mission. Such a scenario would be deeply destabilizing and entirely unacceptable.
The critical question is: should action be taken now, before Iran possesses nuclear weapons, or should the world wait until they do? And if Iran obtains even a single nuclear weapon, should they be declared a dangerous nuclear threat before they have the capacity to build a larger arsenal?
