Iran still has half their missile inventory, can produce a thousand drones a day, and have yet to lay a single mine that I am aware of. The Washington Post had an excellent article about this. The idiots Trump and Hegseth were completely unprepared for this war. We have virtually no mine sweeping ships to clear the Strait Of Hormuz.

And even if we did have the ships, it could easily take months or even years to completely clear the Strait. It's a very delicate operation.

As for the issue with Iran, it takes no great talent to drop bombs on a defenseless enemy. It takes a lot of talent to work toward a solution where you don't. This is why the GOP is so eager to bomb the shit out of things; the other path is far too difficult. GOP voters are simple and intellectually lazy and want easy solutions. And on a basic level, I get that. And sometimes you get the same result.
