Indonesian al-Queda threatens on video tape

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) -- A masked terrorist has threatened attacks against the United States, Britain and Australia in a video found in the hide-out of one of Asia's most wanted militants.

"As long as you keep your troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and intimidate Muslim people, you will feel our intimidation," the man said in the video, made public late Wednesday and shown on Indonesian television.

"You will be the target of our next attack," he said, pointing his finger at the camera.

Police believe the man, who was wearing a black mask and spoke with a Malaysian accept, may be Noordin Mohamad Top, said to be a key leader of the al Qaeda-linked Southeast Asian terror group Jemaah Islamiyah.

The Malaysian fugitive is accused of playing key roles in at least four bombings in Indonesia, including the 2002 nightclub attacks on the resort island of Bali that killed 202 people, 88 of them Australians.

"Our enemy is America, Australia, England and Italy," the man said, later singling out Australian Prime Minister John Howard and Foreign Minister Alexander Downer.

"We especially remind Australia that you, Downer and Howard, are killing Australia, leading it into darkness and misfortune and mujahedeen terror," he said.

"Especially you," he said. "Remember that."

I find it significant that the video tape showing Noordin Top (a key leader of JI - the al Qaeda-linked Southeast Asian terror group Jemaah Islamiyah) was found as a result of a raid that obviously is tightening the noose on the al Qaeda terrorist scum over there.

This raid also resulted in their master bombmaker, Azahari Husin, also known as the "Demolition Man" and one of five key members of JI, blowing himself up to avoid capture.

The current rants for the past 18 years has been the 'meddling' in the ME. The earlier incidents were not justified on that reasoning. There is always 'a blame yourself arguement' doesn't mean that we are Australia should buy into it.
