“On his behalf, he would find it offensive at you questioning his wish to fight against Nazism in the Second World War, and also the idea that SNP supporters are somehow illegitimate in progressing our aims,” he said. Salmond continued: “The SNP and its forebears for the past 100 years have pursued a policy of self-government or independence for Scotland. “In that entire century not a single person has lost their life arguing for or against Scottish independence. “That’s not unprecedented in the world but it’s a very rare thing indeed.”

I suppose some things are worth dying for and others are not.

That likely wouldn't be the case if Scotland was as gerrymandered as Ireland was for the express purpose of holding on to Northern Ireland.

Yes, I agree that the political system in Northern was gerrymandered. However, the "armed struggle" was the wrong political strategy. The use violence eroded the moral high ground. It also made life for people across Northern Ireland a living hell. The "freedom fighters", also used violence on their own community, without any fair process.

Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has extended a Dáil apology made to relatives of "members of State forces who were killed by republicans" to the colleagues of 1976 IRA victim Garda Michael Clerkin.

Responding to calls for an apology from retired Sergeant Jim Cannon, who escaped death on the day his fellow garda officer was murdered, Mr Adams condemned the attack.

Adams is in no way to be taken seriously; this is just a PR ploy on his part.

The modern flavors are mostly just gangsters, hiding behind a political struggle as a cover for extortion and drug dealing.

When will they apologize for their "Padre Pio" jobs?

In Belfast's brutal backstreet humour, the IRA practice is known as a "Padre Pio" - an ironic reference to an Italian Catholic priest who had stigmata on his hands.

But there is nothing godly in this practice, for it refers to paramilitary gunmen carrying out "punishments" on their victims by shooting them through both hands. In a grisly trend, a wave of attacks has been carried out in recent weeks: the IRA, which has renounced violence, believes that such a promise refers only to attacks on the Army and the police.

How has the IRA changed? Once it shot you in the knees, now it's in
