President Trump’s supreme dereliction of duty during those 187 minutes.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right there is the heart of the issue.....in the pulled quote of Representative Cheney by poster Schmidlap.

"Dereliction of duty". Bingo!

From: "Big protest in D.C. on January 6th,” Mr. Trump tweeted on Dec. 19, just one of several of his tweets promoting the day. “Be there, will be wild!”

And then on that 'will-be-wild' day, Trump rallied thousands of his supporters with an incendiary speech:

"Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong. ...

"We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore...".

Urging them to march down to the Capitol, and he would be right there with them.

And his supporters took the president at his word. A large mob of them, wearing Trump regalia and waving Trump flags, violently stormed the Capitol to take over the halls of government and send elected officials into hiding, fearing for their safety.

As President of the United States of America the buck stops at his desk. He was the one to say 'come, it will be wild'......... that, all by itself, is dereliciton of duty for someone with the power of the American presidency. To instigate a mob that he knew full well he could do based on his years of experience in inciting other raucous mobs at his rallies. He knew.

And when it happened he watched it on the telly like it was a World Wrestiling match.
For over 3 hours he simply just watched.
Simply just watched despite a multitude of officials begging him to take steps to stop it.
He just watched.

He was derelict in his duty to protect America and the police protecting the Capitol.

So thanks, Liz, for 'establishing the brand' for exactly what it is we are dealing with.
And thanks to poster Schmidlap for bringing that quote to the forum. I, for one, had not seen it prior.

"Dereliction of duty". Indeed!

Regardless of all the bipartisan condemnations of the Loser's behavior in regard to his goons' attack on Congress, anyone who actually believes that he was behaving responsibly and in compliance with his oath of office should be insisting that all who were present during the three hours under scrutiny should be eager to testify and assure the nation of his impeccable propriety throughout that repulsive assault upon democracy.

Hmm, I wonder is schmidlap would feel the same if it was his that candidate lost an election that was stolen.
If there were such an allegation, I would definitely insist upon actual, credible evidence that a mysterious "Landslide!" was inexplicably pilfered, demand that whoever masterminded, coordinated, or participated in such a vast, multi-leveled caper be named, seek an explanation of how the vast conspiracy worked, expect recounts, audits, and dozens of court challenges, interrogate governors, secretaries of state, and other office holders of the Loser's party who validated their state elections' results.

If none of these obvious recourses to reality resulted in wish fulfillment, I would hasten to summon the integrity to respect the will of the People, the democratic verdict in America's noble tradition of peaceful transfers of power in which it had rightfully taken pride since the nation's founding, rather than persist in lying, sniveling, crapping on elective democracy, befouling the American electorate, and mounting petty vendettas against anyone who defended the inconvenient truth.

I would not incite goons to attack Congress, savaging outnumbered police defending the Capitol.

Clearly, there are others who differ.

You libs ...
E.g.,
Mitch McConnell (R) blames Trump for deadly Capitol riot
"The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people."

Kevin McCarthy (R) blames Trump for riot
“The president bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters.”

Lindsey Graham (R) calls for prosecution of rioters
"Those who made this attack on our government need to be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Their actions are repugnant to democracy."

Former Attorney General William Barr (R) said the violence
at the Capitol building is “outrageous and despicable."

"Politics isn’t about the weird worship of one dude."
Senator Ben Sasse (R)

McConnell is out to get Trump. Trump is out to get McConnell.

---Trump Calls McConnell 'Very Bad for the Republican Party' ---
---Trump recently spoke with senators and allies about potentially replacing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell---

McConnell is out to get Trump.
McConnell's expressing the truth is calculated to have that effect. He has invested his life in the GOP as a conservative, and loathes Trumpers as an invasive species befouling his Party.

It sounds as if Babbitt was a repulsive person, but it's still unfortunate that she happened to be the aggressive Trump goon who was plugged by police defending the Capitol.

Trump brought new voters to the GOP in 2016. Maybe someone needs to inform McConnell of that fact.

Trump lost the popular vote by 2.9 million in 2016, and by over 7 million in 2020.

Maybe, McConnell would trade the cult for well-educated suburbanites.

... or maybe Republicans like McConnell, McCarthy, Barr, Sasse, Cheney, and others simply admitted that Trump was responsible for his January 6 goon attack because he was responsible for his January 6 goon attack. Most Americans know that.

Politics isn't the weird worship of one dude, you know.

Trump lied. There was never a formal offer or request to deny.

It sounds good to you do to your allegiance to trump. The fact is Donald Trump is moving forward to destroy democracy in America. And he's not alone. It's people like you who are anti democracy, and reject the vision left to us by the Preamble to the Constitution and all of it's articles.
I would consider those who steal elections to be anti-democracy.

Don't we all, poster Partiv?
Who wants to live under a government that "stole-an-election"?

Before you, or any other MAGAHatter, claims that that is exactly what happened here......thinking patriotic Americans will assert:
If it was stolen.
Prove it.
Don't just whine about it anonymously under a fake name on a social media gossipboard.
Prove it.

After a year, that 'proof' has yet to be demonstrated.
However, recent news seems to indicate that there was ----indeed-----an attempt to steal the election.
But, by Republicans in state that Trump lost, and doing so by forging and submitting official documents asking for certifictation of false electoral votes.

THAT....in my non-lawyer, non-prosecutor, opinion is or should be --- criminal. And if it is in fact criminal, hopefully those five or six states that were victimized and/or the DOJ....will prosecute every single individual who was responsible in those forgeries.

IMHO

You sure do make overly long posts where all you need is about eight words.

Oh, my avatar quite agrees.
But ....it is relative.

Those brief words you suggest I say....and then stop, pale in significance, quantity, and jackassery.....vs ....the hundreds and hundreds of posts your own avatar---"LennyPartiv"----has offered the forum about a "Stolen Election".

Hundreds of assertions that the 2020 Presidential Eleciton was stolen.
Yet, time and time and time again.....when quiried to prove it.......you, ah, refuse.
You choose not to.
You fail to back your own self up.
You skedaddle.

There comes a point, good poster LennyPartiv, that some here may very well conclude...not inappropriately...that your avatar is simply a fake and a phoney.
That there is no there there with your avatar's thinking or sincerity or competency.

Just sayin'.

Trumptards proved it, trying an attempted coup on January 6.

Then when that failed.

Late on the night of April 24, the wife of Georgia’s top election official got a chilling text message: “You and your family will be killed very slowly.”

A week earlier, Tricia Raffensperger, wife of Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, had received another anonymous text: “We plan for the death of you and your family every day.”

That followed an April 5 text warning. A family member, the texter told her, was “going to have a very unfortunate incident.”

A supporter of former president Donald Trump was sentenced to 19 months in prison for threatening to “slaughter” members of Congress days after the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol — a threat that tested the limits of free speech in an era of contentious political division.

Brendan Hunt, 37, still doesn’t recognize the severity of the violent rhetoric in the 88-second message he posted online 12 days before Joe Biden’s inauguration, said the judge who sentenced him Monday in federal court in Brooklyn.

Another supporter of President Donald Trump has been arrested after death threats — this time against three Democratic lawmakers. In each of the voicemail threats, investigators say, the caller also viciously attacked Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), just four days after the president posted 9/11 footage in a tweet targeting the Muslim congresswoman.

Floridian John Kless, 49, of the Fort Lauderdale area, was charged with interstate transmission of threats following calls to presidential candidates Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), as well as to Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), according to a statement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.

Only in your brain damaged mind, like your daddy.
Lost by 7 million votes but claims he won the election.

You're FOS, as usual.

President Ronald Reagan took office in 1981 vowing to limit the size of government, but during his eight years, the nation's deficit roughly doubled and topped $200 billion several times. Reagan's successor, George H.W. Bush, also presided over a record-breaking deficit, of $290 billion in 1992.

When he took office in 2001, President George W. Bush cited the Clinton surplus as evidence that taxes were too high.
He pushed through major tax cuts and oversaw an increase in spending, and the combination again drove the U.S. budget into the red. The deficit reached a record $458 billion in 2008, Bush's last year in office.

Let alone what the orange retard did.

Republicans can't even balance a checkbook, let alone the US budget.

YES but Trump's trade deal increased the trade imbalance.

February 5 2021
The U.S. trade deficit over the four years of President Donald Trump’s presidency soared to its highest level since 2008, despite his tough tariff tactics intended to bring it down, a new Commerce Department report showed on Friday.

The combined U.S. goods and services trade deficit increased to $679 billion in 2020, compared to $481 billion in 2016, the year before Trump took office. The trade deficit in goods alone hit $916 billion, a record high and an increase of about 21 percent from 2016.

“Their 2017 tax cut ensured that the U.S. as a whole would continue to spend more than it produced, hence the need for a current account deficit. The tariffs on China reduced imports from China, but these were mostly replaced with imports from other sources.”

Like the retard should have done, like always, the buck never stops with him, that's for others to figure out.

No, they weren't moron.

Middle-class incomes grew about 5.8% per year during Obama's last two years in office before slowing to 2.7% from during Trump's first two years in office, according to a new analysis. The income data were adjusted for inflation. All but two states saw real wages fall during that time period.

That was before the Trump virus.

WTF?
That's the way illegal immigration is measured, dumbass.

Wow, clear and supported; a post worthy to be read again and again.
