----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------President Trump’s supreme dereliction of duty during those 187 minutes.”
Right there is the heart of the issue.....in the pulled quote of Representative Cheney by poster Schmidlap.
"Dereliction of duty". Bingo!
From: "Big protest in D.C. on January 6th,” Mr. Trump tweeted on Dec. 19, just one of several of his tweets promoting the day. “Be there, will be wild!”
And then on that 'will-be-wild' day, Trump rallied thousands of his supporters with an incendiary speech:
"Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong. ...
"We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore...".
Urging them to march down to the Capitol, and he would be right there with them.
And his supporters took the president at his word. A large mob of them, wearing Trump regalia and waving Trump flags, violently stormed the Capitol to take over the halls of government and send elected officials into hiding, fearing for their safety.
As President of the United States of America the buck stops at his desk. He was the one to say 'come, it will be wild'......... that, all by itself, is dereliciton of duty for someone with the power of the American presidency. To instigate a mob that he knew full well he could do based on his years of experience in inciting other raucous mobs at his rallies. He knew.
And when it happened he watched it on the telly like it was a World Wrestiling match.
For over 3 hours he simply just watched.
Simply just watched despite a multitude of officials begging him to take steps to stop it.
He just watched.
He was derelict in his duty to protect America and the police protecting the Capitol.
So thanks, Liz, for 'establishing the brand' for exactly what it is we are dealing with.
And thanks to poster Schmidlap for bringing that quote to the forum. I, for one, had not seen it prior.
"Dereliction of duty". Indeed!
