In 2000 the GOP had a chance to balance the Budget, they chose Otherwise

You confuse the corrupt professional politicians with the party base

Particularly the republican base but dem voters have their good points too
I'm not confusing anything.

You know how I know the Republican "base" supports big government big spending?

Because they back Trump with all their minds, hearts, bodies, and souls.

I dont expect any candidate to deliver 100% of MY agenda

Trump was good on so many issues other than spending

He was horrible. He started a failed trade war. He ruined our reputation around the world. He ran up in four years almost as much debt as Obama did in eight. He blew off the Covid pandemic as a hoax and allowed hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths. He bore false witness against others on a daily basis. He enacted a tax cut for the rich while increasing taxes on everyone else. The coward never fired anyone to their face, and did it by tweet instead. It's a lot harder out here in reality than on a game show to show some guts, and he failed. Every bully is a coward at heart.

And he corrupted every last conservative and moral principle there is, and got the rubes to sacrifice their souls with him.

The one saving grace is that he appointed actual conservative judges all up and down the chain. But any of the 2016 Republican candidates would have done the same. Trump doesn't know a conservative judge from a donut. He was told who to appoint by the Federalist Society.

It was not a failed trade war

Not buying all our stuff from china upset a lot of apple carts in America where a few 1 percenters are making hundreds of billions

They pushed back and held out long enough till he was gone

A second term would have kept the pressure on these globalist traitors

The Trump Trade War was fantasitical.

But it may have contributed to altering supply chains, along with covid, and Xi's embrace of national socialism. That may be good down the road, but the supply chain disruption seems to be the major driver of inflation in goods, excluding energy and food.

Biden has kept Trump's trade war with China going. So we will see.

You know protectionism is a left wing thing, right?

We should not depend on china for any product we import

There are so many options other than china for imports there is no reason to buy from them

Bill Clinton was the reason for the balanced budget and projected surplus.

As soon Clinton was gone, and the GOP gained the Executive branch they instantly enacted their budget busting agenda of massive tax cuts for the ultra wealthy, and massive spending bills for the cronnies.

The GOP had a chance to solidify the future finances of America and they fucked it up big time. They made numerous policy mistakes that decimated the finances of America and left the country in massive recession 7 years later.

Looking back 20 years later you can really see how bad the GOP was in 2000-2008, and how they put America on the path for major fiscal problems due to their terrible economic policies, and wild spending bills that did little benefit to America.

More troubling was that Trump did the exact same thing as Bush and spent even more wildly.

Biden is going to spend a lot like Bush and Trump, but he is doing it in a much more effective way, leading to much better growth. Biden will do what Bush and Trump failed to do, achieve great GDP growth.

It's the Democrats turn to show us how to do it....put up or STFU, Pelosi, Democrats....

I guess its human nature to see the bad in the other side more than ourselves

I bet the usual Tweeners here think they are perfect too

At least I know one who does

Are you listening Mac1958 ?

Conservatives tend to see the danger of deficit spending more than libs

The problem (at least as far as our message goes) is that our dire warnings of disaster never come true

And I am happy it hasnt yet

But it will

Sooner or later debt will kill the goose that lays the golden eggs

You might be making an inaccurate connection between conservatism and the Republican Party.

Conservatives, 100% of them, absolutely see the danger of deficit spending. Some liberals see it but all conservatives see it. Almost no Republicans in Congress see the danger of deficit spending. Like they did with Obama Care, or many other issues, Republicans only vote against something when they know the left will pass it anyway. They only vote against Obama Care when they knew Obama would veto it. But when it really counts, Republicans and Democrats vote together on spending.
