about the democratic polls showing Sanders and Buttigieg ahead - and Biden tanking. I know it's too soon to worry, but I am concerned. I worry about the young Sanders supporters not "falling in line" if Sanders doesn't win the Primary nomination. I worry that they are too young and naive to see the big picture - DEFEAT TRUMP. They may just say "**** it" and not even vote in the General Election. Democratic socialism is fine - but Sanders is too far left for this time.
Can anyone talk me off the ledge?
I don't have any good news for you. Your only hope is a really fair, transparent and trusted process. If Iowa is any indication that's already finished in the minds of many DNC voters. Also, it appears there are still Super Delegates and there have been rumours the DNC are trying to change the rules, again, in stream. Nice. Therefore, voters will not accept the results, especially Bernie voters. Why should they?
The impeachment hurt Biden drastically. Ironic, that those suggesting Trump was trying to improve his chances by going after Biden, did precisely the same, even worse. The spotlight was on Biden for weeks on TV, instead of an investigation being done quietly behind the scenes and then going away.
None of them are going to beat Trump now, he is angry and focused. He is going to take the ball up the middle at 3rd and 6 and get the first down. Nothing the Dems can do, they basically poked the bear and the bear will attack.
As someone who has been persecuted and had his basic rights abused, I understand why Trump is so angry. The difference between us is vast, his position of power and wealth, my fight to be free to achieve. It's easy for me to root for him. He is fighting for the USA and now himself and indirectly anyone who has been abused by another in power. It is going to be a tidal wave against whomever the DNC nominee is.
