I'm having a hard time believing they haven't found the submersible (at Titanic site) yet

I think I read it takes around two and a half hours to reach the wreckage and just a little longer to return to the surface. They say the submersible spends 10 to 11 hours diving for each trip, so the entire time at the wreck would be approximately 6 hours.
That's what I heard too. They are overdue.

In response to the question, the ocean is big. Really big.

Actually, their best bet is being HEARD. If they were rapping on the hull, making noise, those sounds could be picked up by sonar long long away.

The most likely reason why they've disappeared and nothing has been heard is that there is nothing to find---- the sub had a defect and imploded under the roughly 6,000 PSI pressure.
that's interesting.. haven't heard that mentioned on the news... have even watched cnn on this story (don't watch if their topic is Politics)

They heard some banging noises so they think that could be the people in the sub but

well, we should know something soon, presumably

it could also be two pieces of rusted steel from the Titanic banging together in the current. If there are any survivors it will be a bigger miracle than the Thailand cave rescue.

According to the pictures I've seen the ship broke in half and the two halves sank next to each other. There was no explosion blowing it to parts.

the crew was all men

hate to sound sexist but... it seems women are (rightly) too cowardly to do something like that. There had, for one thing, been warnings or concerns about these trips.

Why can't people be satisfied with just seeing photos of the thing?

can't help but think of that Bible psg that says: Vanity, vanity, all is vanity and a chase after wind.

I'm sure Jesus would say humans should have better priorities than trying to visit a dead ship in the ocean.. AND paying so much for it...

That said, I did send up a prayer for these people.. more than once.. It looks like they may have gone to meet their Maker, maybe b4 I prayed...

But don't experts on the Titanic KNOW whether this would be the case or not??

Reaching a max depth of about 3000 meters, it's almost 3000 feet short of the Titanic.

The titanic wreckage is scattered over an immense area and the submersible is a tiny dot.
Plus all communication was lost 1 1/2 hours in to the trip that takes 2 1/2 hours to make it to the titanic wreckage sight, so it may not have even made it to the sight! It could be anywhere! :(

You would think each of the subs would have a beacon in a Black Box kind of thing like airplanes do, that doesn't rely on the Sub's energy power? Hind sight is 20/20, but it should be mandatory.

There is not a lot of good technology developed for working at the depths that this manned submersible is at....in fact rescue is really not in the cards.

A sinking fishing boat with a radio has a better chance of being rescued than a mini sub at the bottom of the ocean.

Pressure is the problem....not the dark....and it is dark. And it's a BIG ocean.

wow... amazing.. I actually read the WHOLE post of a leftist!

Anyhow... yeh.. that was informative... again, amazingly.

:)

Gosh, doesn't seem likely they are alive at this point, though I believe in miracles!

I just can't imagine what it would be like for them, if they were just counting their days of air, water, and food left on the bottom of the ocean floor...probably all writing to their loved ones in a last will or diary of sorts.... :( :(

Hopefully, they suffered a catastrophic failure and died quickly.

I was thinking that myself....if it were me, what would I want? A quick and short-lived painless death?

I'm a sentimental kind of person and thought it would be better for my loved ones, and their closure, to read my last words for all of them if the sub is ever found....in their lifetimes.... sigh....
