I'm a Trump supporter, but I think a few of the democrazies ideas are OK

I voted for Trump 3 times, and I feel that he has made America ALMOST great again. I guess that makes me a MAAGA.
So what are the good ideas ? >>>

1. Tax the VERY VERY rich more. It won't hurt to raise taxes on the top 1% (leaving the other 99% alone). C'mon folks, if you're at over TRILLION $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ net worth like Elon Musk, you could pay a lot more in taxes, and still have waaaaaaay more money than the rest of us. Those extra tax $$$$$$$$ could hire more ICE officers, hire more police to lower crime rates, get help for renters being smashed by greedy landlords, help business owners losing sales due to renters paying astronomical rents.

2 I wouldn't say say that this is really a Democrazies idea (because they oppose it about as much as Republicans do), but there really does need to be SOME degree of rent control, to stop runaway rents, which have skyrocketed to undreamed of levels over the last 4 years (200% inflation & some places even worse than that).
Before anyone comes barnstorming in here with all the decades old landlord propagandas about their costs being so high > :puhleeze: no landlord's costs are going up 200+% or anywhere near that, and New York City has had thousands of buildings under rent control for 100 years & the buildings are still there, not abandoned, still occupied, landlords still making profits on them.

3.. This one comes in the from of a question because I'm really not sure about it. If Democrats (currently holding seats in congress) have proposed raising social security COLAs, post that (with sources).
God I wish idiots like you knew something about life.

The rich are taxed on capital gains rather than payroll taxes! They reinvest their money and therefore it isn’t taxed. They hire 70% of middle class, now why do you want middle class to suffer?

What has a democrat done for middle class?

Do landlords pay property taxes? How about utilities? Maintenance?

So you think none of that ever increases?

Haaaaaaaaaahaha stupid

It was supposed to say insane. Had a really long day and missed that altogether while typing. Thanks for catching that, I updated my post.
Yes, it is insane, I'm 80 years old, and I've never seen rent inflation anything near this level. Not only clobbers the renters (112 Million in US) but also businesses who depend on those renters' $$$ for sales.

One unfortunate example - Sam Ash Music opened up in 1924. Went out of business, after 100 years of success.

:cuckoo:

Nothing like mentioning rent control to have all the landlords come barnstorming in to defend their propaganda.
Gotta wonder what makes them get to be so untouchable (while they wreck life for all the rest of us)

Elon Musk pays millions if not billions in taxes. On top of that, he provides employment for millions of workers who also pay taxes. On top of THAT, his employees support millions of other businesses who also pay taxes. They pay for dry cleaners, coffee shops, restaurants, movie theaters. On and on and on. Moreover, every other major business does exactly the same thing. Who do you think built Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital? Clue one. It wasn't the homeless druggies hanging out in the Marina. Ovetaxing the innovators and producers is a good way to stop innovation and production.

HA HA HA. So we are supposed to swallow the decades old line that rents cant be controlled (to reasonable levels) because the poor little landlords are so strapped for cash.

EARTH TO JC: that very oldddd line might have have worked 10 or 20 years ago, but in the last 5 years, we've seen rents skyrocket from $600 to $1800 (200% inflation) ; from $750 to $2500.

:puhleeze:Could anything be much dumber then saying that landlords need that much for expenses ? Sheeesh!

Overtaxing might be a good way to stop innovation and production, sure, but raising some taxation on the top 1% wont have a damn thing to do with production, and not everybody is stupid enough to fall for that OLD, lightweight line.

See Post # 21.........Read Baby! Read !

Most Americans support tax hikes in the over $400,000 year incomes, including most Republicans.
Increase this to the top 1%, and the approvals jump up significantly.

Think of how many more illegal aliens we could get rid of. How any more stealth jihad Muslims we could ship out. And how many more Americans could have stable finances, including not being evicted.

I think a good start would be stopping companies like Black Rock from buying every house they can to turn into rentals. I'd love to own a house someday but it's more and more looking like that dream will never happen.

How about ending benefits for those able to work and pay taxes.

My income level puts me at the bottom of the middle-class. So, I'm not defending the rich because I myself am rich. BUT...
Let's say there was a flat federal tax of 10% on all citizens and you made $100,000, your tax would obviously be $10,000 of your income. Now, the person down the street happens to have made $1,000,000 and he/she pays $100,000. That's obviously 100 times the taxes that "he/she" paid, more than you. He/she is paying far more in taxes than you already. So, he's paying "his/her" fair share. This is in my opinion, acceptable. If someone wants that person to pay even more, that is simply envy/jealousy.
As many multi-millionaires are businessmen/women that own businesses, they have to pay for the business property they purchased, property taxes on not just their homes, but also on any business properties own, pay employees and liability insurance to cover any employee or customer injuries on that property, pay for any and all equipment/machinery and supplies to keep the business running. In short, the rich businessman takes all the risk, we as employees only supply labor, which can be replaced by others.
In the Scandinavian nations, the middle-class pays the brunt of the taxes, not the rich. Their reasoning, which I believe to be sound, is that heavily taxing the rich would stifle innovation. A good example of stifling innovation are the Marxist nations. They rely on their corporate and military espionage of western nations to get their innovation, then adapt it.
If anything should be done regarding the rich, they need to take away some of the various tax deductions.
I don't care if Elon Musk is a Trillionaire, he earned it. It's all his. If you don't want ultra rich people, don't purchase their products.

Fyi,

Because Elon Musk does not receive a standard salary, his precise Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is not public record. On paper, his annual wage-based income is virtually $0 from Tesla, and he draws a minimum wage of roughly $54,080 from SpaceX, resulting in an incredibly low baseline AGI.

His personal income and tax liability only spike in years when he chooses to sell stock or exercise options:

Low-Tax Years: In typical years, Musk uses a strategy of borrowing money against his massive stock holdings to fund his lifestyle. Because loans are not considered income by the IRS, his AGI remains near zero, and he pays $0 in federal income taxes (as records showed he did in 2018).
High-Tax Years: When he must sell shares—such as his massive $14 billion stock liquidation in 2021—his AGI jumps into the billions for that specific year, resulting in a one-time tax bill of roughly $11 billion to $12 billion.

Without a major stock sale triggering capital gains, his true yearly AGI remains negligible, allowing him to legally pay little to no federal income tax.
