My parents got no help from the government other than that avaiable to blacks as well. So how did they go from tenement slums at age 20 to owning a home in the suburbs by age 28?
AND this was all in the immediate aftermath of having their European family members slaughtered for being Jewish. AND this was all 75 years ago.

Affirmative action is a blanket term for a variety of programs aimed at reducing discrimination in education, employment and government contracting, which can make it difficult to determine which programs have been successful and which demographic groups have reaped the rewards. Some scholars, including sociologist Wendy Leo Moore and racism education professor Robin DiAngelo (in her book White Fragility and in this interview) claim that in general, white women have benefited the most from affirmative action. When it comes to higher education, which is the focus of the Supreme Court case, the numbers appear to back them up: In the roughly 60 years since the Civil Rights Movement kickstarted programs to reduce racial and gender discrimination in higher education, women have surpassed men in earning four-year degrees, while Black and Latino students are still underrepresented.
Still, it’s race-based affirmative action that draws the most controversy, and some of the loudest voices opposing it have been white women. So, why is race-based affirmative action not more vehemently supported by a group that’s benefited from similar preferences? After World War II, Jewishness remained a social distinction but no longer a racial one. For example, Jews were allowed to move into white suburban neighborhoods that the Federal Housing Authority policy determined were only for people of the "same social and racial classes" (though some communities instituted housing covenants that excluded Jews). "Ethnicity" became the new language to describe difference among whites, now seen as cultural – a distinction that further entrenched the black/white divide by implying that racial differences go deeper than cultural differences. The new racial system defined whiteness as the "normal" American state, and blackness as a racial problem.
