the poverty index had not moved in spite of the US taxpayers spending over 22 TRILLION dollars. (that was a decade ago) This supposed war on poverty has cost more than all the wars of US history combined (coming in between 6 and 7 Trillion)........and apparently WE THE PEOPLE are losing this WAR..........as Johnson has created nothing but "generational welfare". Not to mention the "out of wedlock birth rate" going from 8% to over 40%.....destroying the foundation of the nuclear family. My parents got no help from the government other than that avaiable to blacks as well. So how did they go from tenement slums at age 20 to owning a home in the suburbs by age 28?

Now, in that same time period, Jim Crow was still in effect in most of the country. Banks still practiced redlining. It was still against the law for people of different races to marry . The Klan still held sway in much of the country.

Jews not being able to join the country club wasn't quite in the same league as being threatened with lynching if you got out of line.
