Same here in Kentucky. We are called a red state but that is very far from the truth. We have a lot of rural areas which are red but the big cities areas are deep dark blue. One fact most people don't realize is that state government for decades and decades and probably centuries, has mostly always been deep dark blue while we usually voted red in national elections. Only recently has state government actually turned red. So, when people brag about our governor being a blue governor of a red state, that has actually been the norm for a very long time, not like our state flipped parties for governor as being some kind of great achievement.

From there too. Yeah, most people think that since the gov is blue than the federal politics will turn blue but its been state/blue, federal/red for decades. Its nothing new but the media always pushes its dishonest narrative.

I like the four seasons but not the cold Wisconsin winters. Any suggestions?
Are you a democrat or an American? If you’re an American, I have a suggestion. If you’re a democrat, I won’t tell you because I don’t want it to be ruined. I’m thinking of moving there myself.

I think if you’re actually considering uprooting your life and moving for political reasons, then you’re a somewhat ridiculous and melodramatic person

You move for a new job, or to be closer to family or for a change in climate. Who actually moves because they don’t like living in a state just because it’s “red" or "blue" on some map?

I’d have zero problems living in deep red states like the south or Texas. I’d fit in fine and would probably enjoy the climate more

You need to be proactive and stop them at their first sign.
.

There was, in another small town in my county, a kid that tried with his/her/its parent's assistance, to force his/her/its school to treat him/her/it as a cat -- the whole nine yards, speaking and teaching in "meow", giving him/her/it a litter box, etc.

It didn't last long.

There's a high school aged kid in my town who demands that everyone address him/her/it by other than his/her/its assigned gender at birth. The teachers have no choice, but none of the students will speak to him/her/it, and they make their feeling clear on the restroom walls. Our kids don't buy the bullshit.

Moving from a blue state is not just superficial politics. It’s survival. 17 property crimes in 25 years in my two democrat-dominated locales.

I'd likely remain in Utah but am willing to move to Wyoming or Montana or Idaho or another "red" wilderness state. If I had my choice, I'd move to a cabin deep in a forest near a natural water source (for fish and clean drinking water). I'd build a large greenhouse; a well; and a decent sized solar array. I'd have chickens for eggs and meat; milk goats; a couple of steers for meat; a reliable deer/elk rifle; canning and food freeze drying equipment. I'd have at least two Turkish Kangals to ward off bears and strangers.

At this point ... a life of solitude over the growing world insanity sounds like a pleasant change.

Well, I’ve lived in a city in a blue state most my life and have never been robbed or mugged or anything. If you’ve been robbed 17 times in 25 years maybe you’re doing something wrong. That seems like an extreme outlier, statistically

Texas has no income tax.

That's a legit political reason to move there if you currently live in California paying 13% income tax.

A lot of people are doing just that. And it's for pragmatic rather than melodramatic reasons.

Nothing even comes close to Virginia in my eyes.....I'm prepared to fight it out here for the rest of my life.

Sigh, no doubt I'll likely just die in place though. 😐

I might consider North Carolina. The politics of a place don't concern me, though.

It really doesn't make much difference to me if 54% of the people I encounter agree with me on any given subject or 46%
The dictatorial powers though are noticeable. Covid showed us all that Prog Communist governors will arrest, prosecute and imprison and destroy people. They will shut down near everything or limit what they can do, and the misery index will rise into the stratosphere. The politicians themselves though will not e affected.

Just wondering: If you were interested in moving to another state would the politics of your new state matter much? Where would you leave and where would you go? Pick any or all answers. If you want list the specific state you would move out of and the specific state you would move to.

I guess Mo is a red state instead of purple, certainly red in SW Mo.
yes, I’d pick a red state if I were moving somewhere else, otherwise I wouldn’t move.

Sadly the South tends to pay shit wages compared to the northeast and Midwest.

Every time I’ve investigated what places like Texas or Florida or the Carolinas pay their experienced nurses, I’m shocked by the degree of pay cut I’d have to accept

I left KY for TN. if I ever left here, it would be for another red state. If I win the lottery, I am moving back to FL where my extended family is.

The cost of living is so much lower, you will be better off! In TX of FL you would also not pay state income tax if you do now. More take home pay.
