If voters don’t feel relief, the economy isn’t fixed

The concerns of many Americans about their economic well-being may be at the highest level since the Great Depression. Politico recently reported that 46% of Americans say their cost of living is the worst that they can remember, including over one-third of Trump voters. Nothing better exemplifies this than the many “30-somethings” who are unable to purchase a home.

Financial anxieties center around affordability, which is the proxy for evaluating whether the economy is meeting the public’s needs. Affordability is the degree to which households can responsibly pay for essential goods and services.

Gregg Ip, an economic commentator for the Wall Street Journal, says that affordability cannot be measured solely by economic data, but must also account for perceptions of financial security.

President Trump opined that concerns about affordability are a “hoax” created by Democrats for political purposes. Most Americans would disagree. While the runaway inflation of the Biden presidency has moderated, widespread concerns about affordability persist. According to a recent Politico poll, nearly half of the nation found the cost of their groceries, health care, utilities, and housing to be unaffordable. About half of the respondents said food costs are difficult to manage, and more than a quarter skipped medical appointments because of the cost.

In the 2026 midterm elections, it will be incumbent upon Republicans and Democrats to make an affordability agenda “job one.” These agendas should be the yardstick voters use to cast their vote for members of Congress and state officials.

I disagree. All the Left has to do is continue to destroy the US from within with spending like a drunken sailor, while "fixing" everything by trying to give away even more things as "free".

But as we all know, or at least should, nothing is ever free. The price for continuing to offer "free" things is a cost voters never reckon on paying.

And for Trump to say that the hurting economy is a hoax is not helping him. No, it is the exact opposite.

And yes, under Biden unaffordability hit new record heights as the DNC contributed to much of it, but Trump is President now and must fix it overnight or meet a horrible fate in the midterms.

For the Left, they could not be happier as they will see both Trump and a free market collapse altogether.

That was always the goal.

Just can't do it, can you? :)
Can't admit that this economy belongs to your savior. He created it.
Biden left him with a recovering economy....after Trump destroyed it in his first term.

Most voters in bright red states will walk into the polls..and vote for the same white Republicans who've done
nothing for them in decades. Because, that's what they are conditioned to do. ^Shrug^.

4.3 percent gdp growth, 2.7 intlation rate, interest rates dropping….americans by in large are happy

Voters are not stupid

They know how much money is in their wallet.
They know what they used to afford but no longer can
They know what is in their paycheck

Dazzling them with economic numbers and declaring the best economy ever (A+++++) does not fool them

Yeah, his usual bullshit isn't going to fly.

Outside of the flock, of course.

Voters are fools if they are looking for some miraculous lowering of prices. We went through a gigantic upward reset in prices during the last administration and that's not going away. All Trump can do is manage the government he inherited, and that's exactly what he's doing. So, while Trump readjusts our economy back to a sustainable model, we should all be thankful that the Democrats, whose policies created this mess, are no longer in the majority.

The polling shows the Dem party having a historical low approval rating

A new NPR/PBS News/Marist Poll finds Americans deeply pessimistic about their economic outlook, with more than six in 10 saying the economy is not working for them personally.

Word vomit. Rationalization of incompetence.

Swing voters care. They get pissed even when things are good and get furious when they think things are bad. They think things are bad according to polls .
Yeah, swing voters are paying more attention. They were maybe 10-12% or so of his vote totals, so they're not in the cult and their eyes are open.

The trail from his ******* chaotic tariff fiasco leads right to the layoffs and slowdowns. The companies' financial reports are clear.

They will never admit it, no matter what proof is provided, because (a) they get their "financial information" from MAGA media and (b) they're Trumpsters who don't know shit about markets & macroeconomics.

Economic numbers are promising
Strong GDP, Record Stock Market

But the rising economy only seems to be helping the wealthy.
Trickle down is not working

The average worker looks at what it costs to take their wife to dinner and a movie and passes on it

The average worker looks at new car prices and decides to keep that 10 year old car running

The average worker looks at the cost to buy a house and realizes it is out of their league.

The average worker looks at their paycheck and sees meager pay raises as their costs keep rising

You can’t fool people about the economy
