If voters don’t feel relief, the economy isn’t fixed

And that pretty much hits the nail on the head. All those in Washington from the President on down shift the fiscal irresponsibility down the line to future generations. The end of excessive spending isn't going to stop until the taxpayers are held responsible and they have to reckon with the consequences.
Well, NYC just got done electing someone who wants to give away "free things" that we both know don't exist.

So, voters just proved you wrong as they are all acting on the emotion of not being able to afford anything and give no thought as to the consequences of being given "free" things. Debt will then only spiral more out of control along with the inevitable inflation.

OK
Show a poll where the public approves of the economy
The only poll that matters is the mid-terms in November. Everyone hates the current high prices.
If Trump and the GOP don't show progress by November the voters will let them know.
Biden's 23% total inflation will take time to grow out of.

He is STILL saying that the other countries are paying the tariffs. He's lying to the country's face. He's lying about the amount collected by a factor of about 90 (it's about $200 billion, not $18 trillion). His tariffs have often been punitive, with nothing backing them up other than his typical childlike emotions.

He's caused chaos throughout global financial markets, he's WRECKED our relationships with our (former) friends with threats, mockery and punishment. And he's put a huge financial burden on the backs of American employers, who have responded the only way they could, with layoffs and hiring freezes.

Is he on Putin's payroll?
All of that legislation the Progs did the first two-years of Joe and no words of their negativity from you. You guys' event tried to kill most of the infants in our nation when we had a difficult time producing formula. You are self-destructive and even suicidal. Proof that richer civilizations decline to selfishness after a while.

Home loan interest rates dropped from 6.7% to 6.1%.....There's a glut of homes on the market now so the competition to sell will lower home prices.

I think that there is plenty of time for the effects to be felt before the midterms.

I saw one older home in my AO with a price drop of near 100K!

Which means exactly..nothing.
Trump owns this economy. And people aren't happy with him.
So..in 2028, a Democrat will get elected and have to once again, fix a mess that a Republican made. :)
Democrats don't fix anything. Their policies only make things much worse.
Open borders, war on energy, over-spend on everything, borrow excessively...which would cause a disaster if the dollar collapses.

I hope to one day find out all the names of those who enabled the orange buffoon's insane tariff crusade.
Optimizing trade agreements? Absolutely. Always.
Do it like a spastic caveman? No. Of course not. Obviously.
Trump is the only president to use reciprocal tariffs to enable fair trade. You're welcome.
You think congress could ever negotiate fair trade agreements like Trump? Nope, never happen, congress can't agree on anything.

If voters don’t feel relief, the economy isn’t fixed

The concerns of many Americans about their economic well-being may be at the highest level since the Great Depression. Politico recently reported that 46% of Americans say their cost of living is the worst that they can remember, including over one-third of Trump voters. Nothing better exemplifies this than the many “30-somethings” who are unable to purchase a home.

Financial anxieties center around affordability, which is the proxy for evaluating whether the economy is meeting the public’s needs. Affordability is the degree to which households can responsibly pay for essential goods and services.

Gregg Ip, an economic commentator for the Wall Street Journal, says that affordability cannot be measured solely by economic data, but must also account for perceptions of financial security.

President Trump opined that concerns about affordability are a “hoax” created by Democrats for political purposes. Most Americans would disagree. While the runaway inflation of the Biden presidency has moderated, widespread concerns about affordability persist. According to a recent Politico poll, nearly half of the nation found the cost of their groceries, health care, utilities, and housing to be unaffordable. About half of the respondents said food costs are difficult to manage, and more than a quarter skipped medical appointments because of the cost.

In the 2026 midterm elections, it will be incumbent upon Republicans and Democrats to make an affordability agenda “job one.” These agendas should be the yardstick voters use to cast their vote for members of Congress and state officials.

I disagree. All the Left has to do is continue to destroy the US from within with spending like a drunken sailor, while "fixing" everything by trying to give away even more things as "free".

But as we all know, or at least should, nothing is ever free. The price for continuing to offer "free" things is a cost voters never reckon on paying.

And for Trump to say that the hurting economy is a hoax is not helping him. No, it is the exact opposite.

And yes, under Biden unaffordability hit new record heights as the DNC contributed to much of it, but Trump is President now and must fix it overnight or meet a horrible fate in the midterms.

For the Left, they could not be happier as they will see both Trump and a free market collapse altogether.

That was always the goal.
All the more reason that there had better be some big time arrests coming down the pike, pronto, or the republicants are going to get smeared in November.

If Trump crusaded to lower tariffs, ours and theirs, we'd all be better off but he never had clear goals, if any. The few times he said we were being taken advantage of from other nations, he never lowered their tariffs. He just raised ours.
You are not considering the $18T in new CAPEX spending commitments Trump got from corporations onshoring new manufacturing plants to avoid the tariffs. For decades we have seen our manufacturing plants being moved overseas, now we;re going to get some back. You're welcome.

How does that put fuel in anyone's tank or food on their table?

You are confusing tariff revenue with commitments to build new manufacturing plants in the US.
2026 tariff revenue is expected to be $300b

The $18T Trump keeps touting is CAPEX commitments by foreign corporations to build new Us plants

A 4.3% GDP growth says the economy is growing. What relationships did he wreck? NATO countries are now committing to 5% military spending instead of 2%.
Is he on Putin's payroll?
That was Hunter Biden.

Trump is driving gas prices down, as opposed to Biden's "war on energy".
As for grocery prices, as Trump deports millions of illegals that will reduce the demand for food, as opposed to Biden's giving illegals free food and free housing.
Democrats already proved that they have no clue how to lower food prices.

He touched a nerve
People in NYC can no longer afford to live there and welcome any attempt to help them

One thing we know is the wealthy CAN afford to live there

Democrats had a total inflation rate of 20% over four years so when Trump's first year averages up to 3%, that means the total inflation rate over five years is 23%, which is still hurting Americans. Unfortunately, democrat inflation is cooked into the books and can't be lowered without actually having deflation.

If the 2020 election hadn't been stolen, this inflation would never have happened. Trump would have had our economy rocking from 20-24, and without the 20 million illegal aliens that Biden invited in.
Can’t fix stupid

Unlike our elected officials in Washington, NYC's mayor and its citizens will be held responsible for their actions. Those pie-in-the-sky campaign promises will go by the wayside if the city hasn't the ability to pay for them.

Inflation figures have been holding rather steady since June of 2024. Looking at the charts, it spiked with the supply chain shortages as the economy kicked back into gear coming out Covid. Perhaps more of a concern for politicians should be unemployment that has been creeping up and the increased bankruptcies. In November's elections, it could be with AI and all, voters may be more concerned over job security than inflation.

2008 was worse. Lost my f in ass in 2008. Then recover from that divorce papers in front of me 2018. Start over again. Not exactly lighting things up like I would like but business is decent. Still rolling profit back into business so life style has not picked up a bunch but soon I will start paying myself more
