If the Dems win in Georgia today

What does it mean? Well, for starters it means the seats in the Senate would be split 50-50 and VP Kamala Harris would cast the deciding vote. But what it really means is that the democrats could change our gov't forever if they have the votes to abolish the filibuster, which as you no doubt know means the majority party in the Senate could pass any bill with only a simple majority. The Senate currently requires 60 votes to stop the debate on a given bill, and you can't vote on any bill until that vote (called cloture) passes.

There is a reason for that requirement. The 60 votes for cloture is there to prevent what is called the "tyranny of the majority". It was feared that the minority party would have no say at all in the Senate, as it currently doesn't in the House. They can squawk all they want but they cannot do anything of substance in the House. Not so in the Senate, up to now at least; these days there is no appetite in either party to cooperate and compromise, it' all obstruction to politically hurt the majority and hopefully get them voted out of office in the next election. And it works too at least sometimes. Hence, no working together on just about anything.

There are 2 Senate seats up for grabs today; if the GOP takes one or both of them then the controversy is over and the filibuster lives for at least 2 more years. But if the democrats take both seats, well..

I believe that if the democrats take both seats they will abolish the filibuster in some way that tries to avoid looking like a power grab but fools no one. The intense pressure from their base will be too hard to ignore IMHO. And if that happens then compromise and cooperation will forever be gone. When one side does that, the other side will follow suit when they take over, and they eventually will. Maybe that will spur the rise of a 3rd political party that would require some kind of coalition; I think that would be a good thing with or without the filibuster. Otherwise, it's a one-party gov't if you can manage to control everything.
You see how quick the filibuster becomes a thing of the past and how NON-moderate Manchin and Tester really are.

How come the Untied States of America allow the Democrat filth to steal our election?

What the fuck is wrong with us?

Is this how we are going to let ourselves be destroyed? Not from foreigners enemies but from within by the greedy deranged assholes that want the US to be a Socialist shithole? Of course they are helped by China Joe's China buddies.

I wonder what out two RINO Senators from Florida will do tomorrow? Will they stand up for Liberty and America or will they succumb to evil?

How could the good people of Georgia even think about voting for a pussy pajama boy commie asshole or a worthless low IQ dumbass hate filled Negro?

XXXX could change our gov't forever. Fill in the blank. How many times have we heard this. If XXXX is elected, the government will change forever. Life as we know it will cease to exist. Funny thing is every time this happens the sun still rises, the birds still sing and the government continues as usually and most people never notice any changes. This is the wonderful thing about the United States government. It just keeps running in spite of who gets elected.

The government is basically run by career employees, not political appointments as in many countries. Government continues to do pretty much the same things just as they have in the past regardless who get's elected president. The reason for this is the people elected generally know nothing about how the government functions. So the president appoints cabinet members whose primary qualification is loyalty to the president. The cabinet members request the president to appoint their cronies to deputy and/or assistant positions.

So when some action is needed in one of the departments and it hits the presidents desk, the president with the help of his advisors will pass it on to his Chief of Staff who will pass it on it on to a cabinet member who will forward it to one his deputies who will consult with one of the assistances to determine what to do with it. After floating around for a couple of weeks, it finally lands on the desk of some GS-7 who will often shit can it because he or she knows what needs to be done and probably did it last week.

After what the republicans have done and still do. I would love for then to add more judges to the supreme court, $2k stimulus checks, in estimate trump and his criminal circle....make them pay for all the crimes they committed. .

You exemplify why people would.

Events in the next 72 hours will probably determine the future of the United States.

Are we going to be America, land of the free and home of the brave, or are we going to be a Socialist shithole like most of the rest of the world?
I'm guessing if the two Dems win, the former.....

This is shocking and the worst possible outcome . I was looking forward to gridlock

Don't underestimate the Democrat Dirty Ticks Department's ability to create the number of ballots they need to win.

They learned how to do it in 2020 and there is no turning back.
