Zone1 If God were real, you wouldn’t need a book

Peter had auditory hallucinations. The ******* hly myth book means nothing. Full lies. No ******* god, just weak minded people who are afraid to think for temselves.
Like the devil you wish to shame Belivers into eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

There may be more than you know of, or will admit;

40 Historical Records of Jesus: Comprehensive List & Context

Cite something secular instead of a bible thumper site.

Name one without belief in a higher power.
Prove there's "belief in a higher power" at the top of any government.

Religion is a tool of control.

The leaders don't subscribe, they prescribe.

You can drive a car without a manual, but it's good to have one when you detect a problem.
You don't need a cook book to cook, but your dinner may taste better with a reference book to tell you how much salt you need.
If you are a sojourner here on earth, for basic training, an instruction manual is a great help...

How about you answer the question I asked first?

I just did. Or rather you helped me do it.
I asked you for the name so far you’ve not been able to come up with it. Name one well known, successful society/civilization that did not look to any higher power. Some had gods and Christians had God. Indians had the Great Spirit and so forth. I see you already ran away.

I did .
If you had brains and balls you'd have looked beyond the URL and checked the text.
Like most fools and losers, you have source bias that is not even half literate.

Clarification on Revelation

While Revelation itself does not serve as direct proof of Jesus’s historical life at the time it was written, the fulfillment of its prophetic elements provides compelling evidence supporting the claims about Jesus’s identity and the divine inspiration of the text.

.

Wrong, as usual.

I donate a generous amount monthly, via automatic withdrawal, to a maternity home that gives a new mother two years of care once she has made the decision to keep her baby instead of killing it. Housing, feeding, clothing, spiritual care, education and life skills classes, plus guidance towards opportunities for employment once the and her baby have graduated out of the program.

And after I'm dead, the home will inherit an amount of assets from me that made their eyes bug out.

Everyone in my church donates via the K of C to programs that provide needy moms with clothing and food, as well as seeing to the needs of disabled students in our small town's K-12.

So, prove your lies.

.
You are such a Blessing in your world.
Congrats.

Many cultures have religion with only oral tradition to support it. The Bible is history, prophecy, wisdom, and religious instruction in one place, meant for a modern, literate people. It is also timeless, with warnings not to alter it in any way.

Timeless, just like when God killed all but 9 people on the planet, and killed most of the animals, and put FISH on the Ark to save them from the flood.

Hollywood is still coming up with stories that make as little sense of this. Timeless.

But no, "god" is not needed for civilization.
Do you have a theory for what is needed? Have you ever asked the questions, Who am I? and Why am I here?

No, religion is not for "control". People of faith are a ready made group that unscrupulous unbelievers, hungry for wealth and power find ways to exploit. Perhaps you have noticed that some of those who have tried to control President Trump have to portray him as something he is not in the attempt to bring him under their control. The same is true of religion. People try to paint it as something it is not in order to bring it down so that they can bring it under their control--which is what you are doing yourself.

Religion is a philosophy for making the most of the life bestowed upon us.

Not just the christian god, any god.

If they were real it would be self evident.

From a guy who spend decades as a preacher:

“Christians go in with their god as an assumption rather than a conclusion. When in fact, after close examination, the virgin birth falls apart, the resurrection falls apart, the basis of morality falls apart, the promise of afterlife fizzles into fear based marketing.”

“The gods of Islam, of Judaism, of Christianity only exist in scripture. If they actually existed, we wouldn’t need the books to claim they did. Once the book fails, the god goes with it.”

Feel free to explain why he is wrong or right.

No one ever put this better than C.S. Lewis:

“God will invade. But I wonder whether people who ask God to interfere openly and directly in our world quite realise what it will be like when He does. When that happens, it is the end of the world. When the author walks on to the stage the play is over. God is going to invade, all right: but what is the good of saying you are on His side then, when you see the whole natural universe melting away like a dream and something else - something it never entered your head to conceive - comes crashing in; something so beautiful to some of us and so terrible to others that none of us will have any choice left? For this time it will God without disguise; something so overwhelming that it will strike either irresistible love or irresistible horror into every creature. It will be too late then to choose your side. There is no use saying you choose to lie down when it has become impossible to stand up. That will not be the time for choosing; it will be the time when we discover which side we really have chosen, whether we realised it before or not. Now, today, this moment, is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding back to give us that chance. It will not last for ever. We must take it or leave it.”

― C.S. Lewis
