Having not seen everything that led up to the confrontation, I withhold judgement. Did the kids throw something at the truck prior to the driver getting out? Were they standing in the street impeding traffic as many protesters like to do these days? I'm guessing here but I have to wonder if something was done to provoke the man from leaving his vehicle in the first place. I have trouble believing he just parked in the road; got out; and started punching high school kids. It just doesn't seem to add up. It's possible but not probable.

He may have been provoked, but if it was just by the kids saying something, I don't think it will make much difference. The reporting so far says the man and the girl he went at were arguing, but of course we probably don't have all the information.
