I didn't vote for long term tariffs.

We have the best oil and gas deposits in the world and now we have a pro drill and frack president... Canada is a drain on America not an asset....

We had a pro drilling & fracking president with Biden. He just pretended to be against it.

Record high oil production under Biden.
Record high drilling permits under Biden.
Record high oil profits under Biden.

The Republicans just might lose the farm vote for all time because of Trump's tariffs.

Remember last time, he bailed out the farmers, because of the mess he created with the other tariff war he started.

It is amusing that you think anyone has to justify anything to you.
Oh, and because I was hoping to gain better insight into how we all voted for lower prices yet are supporting Trump implementing tariffs, which only raise the price of goods and services.

But far be it from me to ask for any kind of explanation.

Bullshit man... come on....

All you're going to get from the die hard Trump supporters is a bunch of excuses. Even when Trump slaps them square in the face with some BS they didn't want, they'll still come up with a way of justifying it.

They're as bad as the Harris supporters.

It's amusing since this is a messageboard where people justify themselves all the time, until they are asked to.
I never justify Myself to anyone here.

I'll give My opinion. I could give two shits wether or no anyone agrees with it. And I'll neve ask people who don't give two shits about Me to justify their opinion.

I simply don't give a fuck.

Tariffs the way they are being used by Trump are a leverage to return manufacturing to the United States. Tha means good paying jobs to Americans. Americans already make plenty of shit but none of it ever gets bought because third world countries and America's enemies are undercutting the American worker. The Corporated greed plays a lot into that too.

Regardless, if the prices of imported goods into the US rise to the level of American-made goods. then that is a win-win for America.

We get good jobs back, and existing labor gets support by purchasing their own goods.

The House is held by a very narrow margin, so the democrats can interfere quite easily.

But thanks for playin...

Funny, because Pelosi was constantly kicking Trumps ass with only a small majority of democrats in the House. Trump still had the Senate, and Pelosi still beat him like a red headed step child.

You're wasting your breath. These people are living in the 1940s and waiting for its return.

Let's discuss WHY Trump is enacting these tariffs.

He wants them, in order to boost AMERICAN manufacturing and end, what he says, are unfair trade practices.
In addition, he's doing it as a way to force Canada and Mexico to stop the flow of illicit drugs and illegal aliens.

Let's see if it works, and yes there is going to be pain for at least some time.
The fact that respected and trusted economists have said this simply will not work, doesn't seem to factor in your assessment, which of course is entirely consistent with the antillectual basis upon which maga is built.

See, that's all I asked for.

Maybe I shouldn't have fashioned my statement as a demand, but what's done is done. I must live with it now. I'll address this statement separately.

Different economists have different opinions on everything. Zzzzzzzzz

I got a rather plausible one from Darkwind just now, even though I still have some questions.

How TF is he going to "boost American manufacturing, when the very reason they left is even worse today than it was when they left?
The value of the USD. FFS, $15hr in the USA is now a poverty wage. When they started leaving, $15hr was a lower middle class wage.

I was reading that Toyota is moving their assembly plant here from Mexico. Not that I would ever buy a Toyota. Not unless it was a 4th generation Supra. But still. that's the vision behind the tariffs.
Let's examine that. Currently, Toyota is manufacturing the Tacoma in Mexico. That plant, build from the ground up in 2016, replaced the production of the Tacoma in San Antonio.

Here is the thing, manufacturers moving production to the United States might mean they won't have to pay the tariffs, but the American consumer will stay pay the cost. If it cost more to produce here in the United States than it does in Mexico, then the American consumer is going to pay that higher cost. No tariffs paid, higher cost for the consumer anyway.

Right, that's true of course but it doesn't mean we cannot trust people with expertise as trumpanzees love to do.

Okay, so how quickly do you expect all that to happen? It is no small feat to bring back manufacturing power back from overseas or elsewhere and re-hire all that outsourced labor from the American workforce.

It's striking how Trudeau despite his political difficulties sounds like a president, something Trump has never pulled off.
