I didn't vote for long term tariffs.

I voted for Trump to lower prices. I voted for him not to cause trade wars with other countries. Now we're all going to see price increases.

I hope those willing to endure the economic hardship so we can stick it to other countries can justify to me why this was necessary. Why did we need these tariffs when we could have done something to ease the pain here in America?
It is amusing that you think anyone has to justify anything to you.

So that the democrats can't constantly grind things to a halt.

Bring up the democrats in a thread about Trump.
Trump has the House, Senate and Supreme Court.

No more excuses. And no more blaming everything on the democrats.

I'm all for buying American. But it's kind of a moot point, when jobs are going to be LOST because they're moving everything to AI, as I said in post #120.
Neither Trump nor the progs will make much of it, but the answer is simply make educ, hc, retirement affordable for US workers. Now if Trump wanted to use tariff revenue for that .... maybe I could get on the trump train.

Oh is that all? We could support America by not endangering our trade relationships with our allies.
The trade war trump has initiated has widespread ramifications. Combined with trump abandoning Ukraine it tells our allies we are no longer a worthy ally or a worthy trading partner. You can bet our allies, if they still consider us to be their ally, are going to do all they can be de-risk their defense and their economies from what has become an erratic US.........thanks to Dotard.

The House is held by a very narrow margin, so the democrats can interfere quite easily.

But thanks for playin...

What if I told you that Sherlock is right about one thing: we are a "consumption" country. However, our production and exports are at historical highs, and unemployment is at historical lows. With that being said, there are 7 million jobs that can't be filled, most of them being blue collar jobs, as it stands they aren't very desirable in the first place. So one wonders, if tariffs are supposed to bring jobs back to America, will it fill the blue collar jobs?
Bringing jobs back to U.S.? What's going to happen if some of those jobs are filled you speak of at 5 times or more the labor cost of other countries? Will prices go down? Nope, the workers are going to demand more money to fill those jobs. It will be more expensive to produce most everything in the U.S. Health insurance, workers comp, building expenses, etc.

I buy Japs. Try to get a Panasonic TV in the US now. You can't. Do you know why?

Trudeau was just speaking on Newsmax and threatening us with reciprocal tariffs. I think the end result of Trump's tariffs on Canada will turn Canadians against Trudeau, once their economy starts to tank.

Pretty neat "regime change" Trump is doing to Canada, and it didn't even have to involve the CIA.

:laughing0301:
Wow. You are really out of the loop, kid.

It's amusing since this is a messageboard where people justify themselves all the time, so readily, and freely, up until the point they are asked to.

Home school. Eat apples. Don't live beyond your means. Simple enough for ya?

Desperate times call for desperate tactics by the left. Maybe even TDS lefties expected miracles when America kicked Biden/Harris out of office but they have to be patient. The pending tariff on Canada is already working despite propaganda generated by the left. Canada is forced to tighten the border and combat drug shipments aimed at America's kids. Likewise Mexico.
