Isn’t the entire Trump New York case over a misdemeanor that had the statute of limitations run out?

The prosecution has demonstrated that there was a conspiracy involving the National Enquirer, and the Trump campaign, to buy and bury stories about Trump. And they formulated this conspiracy BEFORE Trump ran for office.

Since payments to these people is a "donation to the campaign" - giving them something of monetary value, failure to report the payments is a crime, and the AMOUNT of the payments made exceeds the maximum donation allowable.

And then Trump tried to cover it all up by claiming the whole thing as a valid tax deduction for legal expenses. Hence falsification of records and tax evasion.
