Huckabee Granted Clemency To Maurice Clemmons, Person Of Interest, In Ambush That Killed 4 Cops

SEATTLE — A suspect in the slaying of four police officers who were gunned down in a suburban coffee shop was holed up at a Seattle house early Monday, wounded and possibly dead, police said.

Negotiators were trying to communicate with Maurice Clemmons, 37, using loudspeakers and explosions to try to prod him from hiding. At one point, gunshots rang through the neighborhood, about 30 miles from the original crime scene.

"We have determined that in fact he has been shot," said Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff. "He may be deceased from his gunshot wound."

Clemmons, who has a long criminal history — including a long (95-year) prison sentence commuted by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee nearly a decade ago — became the prime target Sunday in the search for the killer of Lakewood police Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39, and Officers Ronald Owens, 37; Tina Griswold, 40; and Greg Richards 42.

You're playing with fire. Huckabee freed a black man from a 95-year prison sentence because he committed a crime before he was 18 and had already served years in prison. It'll be interesting to see what prominent blacks like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Barack Obama have to say about this. I doubt they'll say anything bad about Huckabee concerning this, but they should.

So the logic here is Huckabee followed the recommendations of someone who put Mr. Clemmons on a clemency list. He is now responsible for that person's actions regardless of any other authority who has contact with him and fails to imprison him. Interesting.

So if Mr. Obama follows the recommendations of his military leaders and a soldier dies. Mr. Obama is responsible. If the health care bill he signs doesn't work as planned, he gets blamed. Should the stimulus not put people back to work by this time next year, Obama has done a great disservice. Just wnat to make sure that I understand the standard to which you want to hold people.
