Background checks are absolutely useless for two reasons and oppressive for a third reason:

1. Past behavior is not a prediction of future behavior. These mass shooters that passed background checks are examples of that.

2. Not being able to pass a background check will never stop a crook from getting a firearm to commit a crime. Most of the gun crimes in the US are done by people that would never be able to legally get a gun. They find a way.

3. If you have to get government permission to enjoy a right that is guaranteed in the Bill of Rights then the BoRs is not worth the paper it is written on, is it? Filthy background checks are the oppressive government giving permission for a right that "shall not be infringed".
