How does the science of evolution, geology, marine biology, etc. help people to become the best version of him/herself? Studying evolution, zoology, astronomy is not going to build the inner person. Philosophy does that, and religion is not a science but a philosophy. No one attends church to learn about science, and no one enters a biology class expecting to learn philosophy. Both have their place in study and education. Studying evolution is quite interesting--but does nothing to address the problems that crop up in the workplace. On the other hand, religious philosophy has been invaluable in daily interactions with people--at home, at work, with strangers. It's senseless to pit science against philosophy.
