Zone1 How Would You React if your Religion were Proven False?

the metaphysical forces of the universe are real and life is found on planet earth ...

the desert religions are madeup by bad people, need to just start new and make religion a work of beauty and not evil.

To the degree that it is supported by facts, I do
even when it later requires correction, right?...big bang? the belief that nothing created the universe, fact?
Why I don’t have faith in religion
religions feel that way about each other as it is a condition of their "facts" versus your "facts"

A theory relies on assembled facts to prove or disprove conclusions

Religion has no such facts to support its conclusions….just faith

The point is that all religions have a factual base that is provable and a spiritual base that is either accepted or rejected by faith. But if the factual base proves false, where do you go from there?

IsIam is based on the biography, teachings and beIiefs of a certain person, whose very existence cannot be proven with traditionaI tools such archaeology and contemporaneous writings. Its principIe texts are cIaimed to be infallible, unchangeable, and final. If one of the fundamental historical facts is actually proven to be false - i.e., that Mecca did not exist during the presumed lifetime of Mo-hammed - then the whole background story explodes.

Jay Smith has debated scores of Islamic scholars, and they cannot bring evidence to prove the points that he chaIIenges. It is akin to the revelation of DNA samplings from the indigenous people of the Americas, proving that Joseph Smith's historicaI accounts of Semitic tribes traveling from the MiddIe East to CentraI America are simply false.

Where does a believer go from there?

The Christian Bible is filled with allegorical tales (as well as historicaI accounts), and rational Christians are not troubled by evidence that "creation" did not take place in six days. But the Quran is not allegorical, nor is the Book of Mormon; they claim to be historically accurate.

aka ^the evolutionary process^...including of course the televangelists/celebrity scientists that sell everything from the garden of eden to the workers paradise or burning hellfire and climate change and the faithful followers who scoff and ridicule the ignorance of the non-believers/deniers...the theory of science is nothing more than the next evolutionary step in religion...

I hope I did not offend anyone as that is the last thing I wish to do to the faithful on either side of this issue.

Non sequitur...you skipped right over the post you're responding to.
A theory relies on assembled facts to prove or disprove conclusions
So do you then consider science as a whole "to be or not to be" a theory?

You people believe in something that cannot be proven to be true. You have zero facts, just a myth book based on lies.

No,, Yeshua (proper spelling) would NOT have born in winter, no crops or new born animals to taxed. NO woman in her right mind would allowed herself to be put on a donkey and go on 90+mile ride in eighth or ninth month. Get ******* real.

Is that a scientific fact?

When Jesus set up his church on the earth he called apostles and prophets as a foundational part of his church. A true apostle Paul tells us the following as members of his church:

Ephesians 2:19-20
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Here we learn that apostles and prophets were foundational to the church. Jesus Christ was the chief corner stone and under him were apostles and prophets. Paul also tells us the following:

Ephesians 4:11-14
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Here we learn that Jesus not only set up his church with a foundation of apostles and prophets but that they should always be a part of his church till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the statue of the fulness of Christ. So if you are really looking for the true church of Jesus Christ, you should find that his church has apostles and prophets for the purpose of perfecting the saints.

I would not suffer but become a Buddhist - and in only 1, 2 or 3 billion years or so anyway no one any longer will speak about.

To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David. Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

For a malicious atheist like you, I can summarise all this much more simply: Do as God does – become human!

Really hate to break it to you but there is no ******* Sky Man and his bastard son is a lie. Religion is a form of mass hysteria.

Interesting form of an absurd hysterical belief or anti-belief. What's your credo? To believe in insults?

Study Goedels proof for the existence of god and refute this evidence with means other than what you believe. See you in 200 years ... or in 200 million or 200 billion years?

Do you have faith in science?

No. My basic scientific training is too good to talk such nonsense. I believe in this context only that we err us upward. But everything what we know in science is only provisional until we'll know better. Every scientifically answerable question gives rise to new questions. So it seems that eternity will be anything but boring.

„Die meisten von uns – dessen müssen wir uns bewußt sein – lieben ihre Hypothesen, und es ist, wie ich einmal sagte, eine zwar schmerzhafte, aber jung und gesund erhaltende Turnübung, täglich, gewissermaßen als Frühsport, seine Lieblingshypothese über Bord zu werfen.“
Konrad Lorenz
‘Most of us – we must be aware of this – love our hypotheses, and it is, as I once said, a painful but youthful and healthy exercise to throw your favourite hypothesis overboard every day, as a kind of morning exercise.’

Tell me please why something is existing at all and not only nothing is [¿not?] existing.

So? ^This^ is the type of response as to how most folk defend/explain their religious beliefs. I wouldn't expect you to feel or think any differently.
