How to save inner city schools.

not seeing how making it about race solves the problem,,

this exists in all racial demograghics,, well except asian and indian,,

do you know why those two groups do so well in school??

until you can prove it best you not use personal accounts because I dont believe you,,
Well then, we have nothing more to talk about.

I don't doubt that, Ol' Salty. They built them to last in the 1920s.
Pride in the work and things like that. In fact, that could be the cutoff point for when things were built to last.
I did not mention the numerous upgrades that went into that school in the 1970s when the county took over the city school system. The school still had almost no internet capability outside ethernet cords. The floors were crumbling and made out of the same wood as old basketball courts. We had chalk boards and all the associated dust. It was a living time capsule of education in the 1920s in a large part of the school.

that picture doesnt show a crumbling building,,

the school I went to was 70 yrs old when I went there and at the time it was one of the highest ranked schools in the country,,
then the dept of ed came into existence and all education went downhill from there,,

if you want to know why education is failing all you need to do is look at the parents of the failing students,, most are uneducated themselves and CANT help their children,,

to blame a building is laughable,,
So, why don't you educate us on what the Education Department being created did to the educational process. I am interested because as far as I know, it had zero impact except in schools in the deep south that could no longer ignore poor and minority schools.

It all adds up.

I attended high school in an older building as well, but it was solidly built and well maintained.
You just nailed the issue inadvertently. Most are not. I taught in old schools, schools built in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, but not once in my years from 1996-2018 did I teach in a new school. I taught in 8 school districts.

You support a system which only prepares young black students to go into the dependent class.
How's that? I only taught 3 years in an inner-city school that was predominantly foreign students who emigrated to the US or their parents had. We had black, brown, Asian and "white" kids from all over the world. Tell us about your experience teaching minority students in an inner-city school! Oh, wait! You can't!

So you were part of the deterioration of our inner city schools.

Do you get Douche Bag points for each one of these stupid posts? Go find something else to talk about. ANYTHING. You must know something about some other topic.

Students in very difficult circumstances require a specific set of skills and experiences…
What specific skills and experiences do these students require which differ from other students?

And I suppose it was a guiding light of academic excellence when you left.

Wait, you are one of those who thinks there are no problems.
Nope. It was a total disaster. I left because the principal would not enforce discipline on the kids. He did not like the fact that I had been a school administrator so I knew what he could and could not do. It pissed him off, so he threatened to not renew my contract, so I told him to go right ahead. I didn't want to work for him anymore. My close friend who remained said he was fired the next year.
