How to save inner city schools.

All is well in our inner-city schools.

That article is about two years old. Mountains of money have been pumped into schools since COVID. More money, by itself, is not the answer. Whoever wrote that article didn't seem to be very familiar with Boston. Dorchester is one of the worst parts of Boston, so obviously more and more and more money into the schools in Dorchester won't magically transform Dorchester into Lexington.

From what I've read it's a national problem.

Illogical again.
How is that illogical? Why do they produce so many High school grads who read, write, speak English and do general math at a fifth grade level or lower?

Is that because they instill discipline and promote academic success?

So then how is more money going to help? You just admitted “mountains of money” have been pumped into these schools since. COVID.

More money does not equal academic improvement. They have all the money they need.

So then how is more money going to help? ...

It never hurts to improve infrastructure, hire more teachers, and update technology. A lot of the money that was sent to schools didn't go where it was supposed to.

Do people get sick? Do people die?

For a change, try not to be an idiot.
You should take your own advice. Have you ever taught in an inner-city school? I have, and you have no idea the problems these kids have.

I taught over 100 boys, in all-male middle school. On open house nights, I had a total of three parents show up. The two boys were American born to Cuban immigrant parents. Why? The vast majority of those boys did not have two parents. They lived with Mom and multiple siblings, or they were lucky to have a Mom at home. Many lived with grandmothers, aunt, uncles, or even cousins. Many of those boys lived with their older sisters. I had several students who had both parents in jail, mostly for drugs. If you think you are going to find the next Einstein in one on those classes, you are sadly mistaken.

No comment from you? Why did you quote my post and then say nothing?
I did say something. I don’t know what happened there.

If academic performance is promoted, why do a strong majority of inner city high school kids graduate with an elementary scho reading, writing and general math level?

More than half can’t even speak proper English. They don’t know the difference between an adjective, noun and a verb

Tell me how YOU would promote academic performance, so I can evaluate your methods!

What instructional tactic would you use? Remember, physical beatings are not allowed.

First I would provide effective security.

Then I would discontinue the process of simply passing failing students to the next grad level just to get rid of them.

I would reward successful teachers with financial incentives.

You seem to be willing to accept throwing thousands of young people away because it would take effort to restore public education in these inner city schools filled primarily filled with young black kids.

You obviously have no issue with perpetuating the dependent class.

No one advocated physical bestimgs you idiot.

Done. Next!

Successful teachers just luck out with better students. How would you do that for special education teachers? Next!

Then I would discontinue the process of simply passing failing students to the next grad level just to get rid of them.
Not a teacher's decision. Talk to the school administration or school board. Next!

I just figured I would kill that option in advance. Many people default to that. What is your solution.?

That's pretty specific. How the hell would you know that? (awaiting some painfully stupid bullshit).
