1. For all of his many faults, Progressive Democrat President
Woodrow Wilson was strongly opposed to communism. He understood it to be antithetical to American values and direction. Wilson dubbed the Bolsheviks "barbarians," "terrorists" and "tyrants." He said they were engaged in a "brutal" campaign of "mass terrorism," of "blood and terror," of "indiscriminate slaughter" through "cunning" and "savage oppression." The "violent and tyrannical" Bolsheviks were "the most consummate sneaks in the world," and Bolshevism was an "ugly, poisonous thing." Wilson warned that the Bolsheviks were pushing an "expansionist" ideology that they wanted to export "throughout the world," including into the United States.

2. Containment was
a United States policy using numerous strategies to prevent the spread of communism abroad. A component of the Cold War, this policy was a response to a series of moves by the Soviet Union to enlarge communist influence in Eastern Europe, China, Korea, and Vietnam. It represented a middle-ground position between détente and rollback.
The basis of the doctrine was articulated in a 1946 cable by U.S. diplomat George F. Kennan. As a description of U.S. foreign policy, the word originated in a report Kennan submitted to U.S. Defense SecretaryJames Forrestal in 1947, a report that was later used in a magazine article. It is a translation of the Frenchcordon sanitaire, used to describe Western policy toward the Soviet Union in the 1920s .

3. Then
the World War found the United States and the USSR with the same interests. While American presence in Russia was modest and equivocal, Russian presence in wartime America was so large that they had to set up a corporate headquarters on Sixteenth Street in Washington. One of the executives in th huge staff was Victor Kravchenko, metallurgist, engineer, executive, and captain in the Red Army. And the first Soviet defector.

4. Unlike Wilson,
FDR was completely taken in by the communists and Uncle Joe Stalin.
He laughed when warned of spy networks. Moreover, it is obvious that a penetration so complete would have been impossible if the Communists had not been able to depend on the
blindness or indifference of many of the far larger number of ordinary liberals who dominated the Roosevelt Administration. As early as the late 1930s, even known Communists in government were often regarded by their colleagues as merely "liberals in a hurry." And during the war, of course, they could be excused as simply enthusiasts for America's doughty ally, "good old Joe." Small wonder, then, that liberals, after the onset of the Cold War with the Soviet Union in 1946, dreaded so profoundly the disclosure of the appalling degree of governmental penetration that they now began to suspect the
Communists had achieved on their watch in the 1930s and the first half of the 1940s.

a. Whittaker Chambers wrote in his book WITNESS that
liberals are/were incapable of ever effectively fighting Communism because they did not see anything in Communism that was antithetical to their own beliefs. In short, Liberals are Communists and Communists are Liberals.
b."Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin repeatedly criticized IPR [Institute of Pacific Relations] and its former chairman Philip Jessup. McCarthy observed that Frederick V. Field, T.A. Bisson, and
Owen Lattimore were active in IPR and claimed that they had worked to turn American China policy in favor of the Communist Party of China."

5. From the book Blacklisted From History, by M. Stanton Evans:
Soviet agents in the U.S. State department (and Treasury) worked actively to damage confidence of our government, in the
(Nationalist) Chinese fighting in their own country, as our allies against the Japanese, and
in favor of the Communist unsurgency of Mao Tse-Tung and Chou En-Lai.
While Chiang Kai-Shek was busy as our ally fighting the Japanese, White, Currie, Coe, Glasser, and Hiss were doing all they could to undermine him in favor of Mao and the communists.
a. Another example of [Harry Dexter]
White acting as an agent of influence for the Soviet Union was his obstruction of a proposed $200 million loan to Nationalist China in 1943, which he had been officially instructed to execute,[52] at a time when inflation was spiraling out of control.

6. Consider the damage done by Leftist academics influencing Liberal politicians- Owen Lattimore:
influential scholar ofCentral Asia, especially Mongolia. In the 1930s, he was editor of Pacific Affairs, a journal published by the Institute of Pacific Relations, and then taught at Johns Hopkins University from 1938 to 1963. During World War II, he was an advisor to Chiang Kai-shek and the American government and contributed extensively to the public debate.

b. Lattimore was found to be a conscious, articulate
instrument of the Soviet conspiracy by a unanimous Senate committee (William F. Buckley and Brent Bozell, McCarty and His Enemies, p. 274, quoting the Congressional Record)

China poses the greatest threat to the economic independence and social freedom of the United States. As it begins to expand its economic strength and exerts greater and greater influence over other nations, China is carving a path straight towards knocking the U.S. out of position as the worlds leading and most prosperous nation and in doing so, if past history of rising and declining nations holds true, we are headed towards a military conflict with China in the next several years. This research paper will highlight the threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) who runs the government in hopes of eliciting change at the citizen-level to re-ignite the torch of liberty for America and the world.
