How much federal support should Florida receive for hurricane Ian recovery? If it was not Florida and DeSantis was in charge, it would be safe to say nothing. While in congress, DeSantis voted against hurricane relief for Sandy. DeSantis is requesting federal funds for hurricane Ian recovery. Hypocrite?
That is how it is, too often, for Republicans. They want to cut funds unless it is for them.
As a person in the middle, the Republicans don't give enough and the Democrats give too much.

It sure is tempting to call De Santis on his BS and shaft him on his hypocrisy.

But that wouldn't be right, especially for the people of Florida.

No reason to get down in the mud with him. No pun intended.

the tax payers in Florida have been paying for said disaster support... and not just for Florida either commie ... maybe you believe tax payers in red states shouldnt get fed aid during a disaster and only blue states should get disaster relief ...

Some are already saying that no amount of money is going to be able to fix the damage in time for a repeat performance of the climate gods next year.

Due to the extremes of global climate change, Florida may become largely uninhabitable!

We need to start thinking in terms of how large and destructive a hurricane can get now!

Even most major hurricanes could fit into Ian's 30 mile wide eye!

So did the tax payers in New Jersey and New York, when DeSantis voted against them receiving federal funds.

I feel Florida should get funds. But it is hypocritical that DeSantis wants federal funds but he did not feel New Jersey and New Your deserved funds.

HYPOCRITICAL

Say Elmer, you're so smart :abgg2q.jpg:

Why don't you look up the reasons Disantis voted against that relief package.

BTW, your OP makes no sense. "If it was not Florida and DeSantis was in charge, it would be safe to say nothing." :happy-1:
DeSantis said about nofunds for NJ and NY
He said then: “I sympathise with the victims of Hurricane Sandy and believe that those who purchased flood insurance should have their claims paid. At the same time, allowing the program to increase its debt by another $9.7bn with no plan to offset the spending with cuts elsewhere is not fiscally responsible.

Why would the the same not be true for Florida?

I was saying; DeSantis would give another state nothing. Seems pretty clear to me.

I can imagine Florida/Ian will need quite a bit.
Here are the FEMA totals from Irma in 2020

Well just look at FL's population growth.

Resident Population in Florida

In 1960 there were a bit better than 5M people living there, mostly scattered along or slightly inland of the coastlines....Now it's around 22 million, many living farther inland where there probably shouldn't be people. It was a fuckin' swamp for a reason.

Sorry, but if you insist on living where mother nature fucks you in the ass every year with a average of three major (cat 3 and above) hurricanes you get what you get....It's called the vanity of man.

This is called a fuckin' clue and that's just from 1851 to 1899.....

Desantis is asking for 100% funding from the Fed, but he fought funding for victims of hurricane Sandy.
