How many times are we going to fall for this mousetrap? How many times are we going to let Lucy pull the football out from under us?

Time and again North Korea stomps its feet and we come running with the latest edition of HOW STUPID IS AMERICA

Snip:

The United States and Japan on Sunday offered new talks with North Korea to resolve the increasingly dangerous standoff over its nuclear and missile programs, but said the reclusive communist government first must lower tensions and honor previous agreements.

Sound familiar? Do you suppose it will be magically different this time?

In the context, this is necessary in the visible political realm. It is what is going on behind the scenes that counts. America should be pushing a collective Sino-American front to resolve the issue more permanently.

I don’t understand the problem here?

What do you want us to do? Ignore them? Attack them? Nothing?

There is not answer. We have to talk because that is all we can do at this juncture. AFAIK, we don’t really trade with them at all, we cannot stop China from trading with them (and that would require, you know, TALKING), we have almost no influence whatsoever over there policies. All we have left is to throw reason at the wall again and watch it die miserably. Until NK actually does something that warrants retaliation on a mass scale, nothing is going to change.

Kerry is offering the prospect of aid AGAIN. And AGAIN North Korea will play us for fools.

Isolate and ignore while keeping a watchful eye is the ONLY logical solution imo.

Certainly, it is insane to repeatedly have the same results and continue doing the same things expecting a different result. That said, 'offering' is not giving. The carrot can still be offered as long as a different attitude on NK's part is required.

and what happened the last time they promised and we once again gave them aid?

Now THAT is a logical point (and was not mentioned in the OP). If you ask me, we should not be giving NK anything at all until they back off of all this militant behavior.

The real key would be negotiating with China for some joint resolutions against NK but I doubt that such an agreement is possible. China does not like our influence and certainly does not want to have it spread into NK more than it has to.

Of course, we all know what happened. That's why it can't be that way next time, if there is one. The aid, perhaps, will have to be administered directly by outside organizations, not merely delivered to the present malefactors.

China doesn't want to negotiate with us! That should be obvious by now. John Fool Kerry is in China so they can not talk to him in person.

The United States is now begging for North Korea to not hurt us. That's like waving a red flag in front of a bull that's already enraged.

obama mishandled this from the very start and in everything he did.

From flying stealth bombers around the world to drop inert bombs two weeks ago to signaling we want to talk this week.

Talk about mixed messages.

John Fool Kerry offers up missile defense to the Chinese.

In a news conference, Mr. Kerry suggested that the United States could remove some newly enhanced missile defenses in the region,

Yes taking down those anti missile defense batteries will make the region MUCH safer from North Korea.

How dumb is our leadership? This is pretty fucking dumb.

Now the US intends to remove the defenses that were set up to guard against a North Korean attack! That's not a mixed message, it's treason. It is a blatant admission that the United States has no intention of abiding by the treaties signed with South Korea and Japan.

The US is the fat rich kid. NK is the bully threatening the fat boy's self esteem. SK is the little girl crying in fear but looking through the fingers over her eyes to see if the fat boy is going for his wallet.

Reagan paid up. Pap Bush paid up. Clinton paid up. The Bush League paid up.

Why would Obama do something different? Bend over, America, and get out the grease; nothing has changed at the top since Reagan sold American foreign policy to the defense industry.

As was asked earlier.....what do you think we should do? Attack and get tens of thousands of our soldiers and their innocent people killed?

The days of attacking first then asking (or answering) questions later are hopefully over.

If anyone has any respect for our troops they won't support making the same dumbfuck mistakes that Bush II made and get our soldiers killed FOR NO GOOD REASON.

Most Americans are unaware of the US kill rate during the Korean War which equaled more than one 911 per day for each and every one of the 1100 days of a conflict which would never have occurred if the US hadn't prevented Korean independence in 1945. That could make some people foot-stomping mad.

So you read the question and didn't bother to read two more posts for an answer?

Maybe you should read further. You would look like less of a tool that way.

Obviously we didn't kill enough of them because the war was fought to a truce instead of victory.

Again........no answer. Just a desire to see our troops killed.
