Zone1 How do you imagine the Holy Spirit?

He can be everything to everyone, each according to their needs. Charlie Manson's Spirit may be different from yours, but maybe not.
Thats the wonderful thing about "faith", having an imagination completely unrestrained by reality where anything is possible, even though its not. Like "believing" that God became a diaper wearing baby boy only to become a perfect human sacrifice so believers can sin with impunity for life because he loved the Roman world so much.

I wonder about the mental gymnastics and energy required to maintain the belief that abortion is murder, but its OK to celebrate the murder of Jesus because an innocent Jewish man paid the penalty for their sins, which is a reprehensible delusion, unethical and immoral. But I'm sure that Jesus is very impressed with their love for him.

You might be right about that Manson spirit....

What if he is not? What do you stand to lose if you are wrong?
What if you are wrong? I'm sure that an atheist will do better on judgment day than a person who spent their entire life worshipping a trinity that became an edible mangod whose amazing powerful supernatural "miracles of the lie" (that scripture is to be taken literally) does not correspond to any real living being ever in existence.

I heard that God creator of heaven and earth could be a little testy about such things. But thats just what I heard.

BTW no one has to wait for Judgment Day. Gods judgments have been openly revealed from the beginning. So don't you worry silly. You openly and brazenly defy the Law of God and so you have your reward already! "The death", a curse, but only if what you profess to believe is the Word of God and what it teaches is the very truth.

Enjoy!

Not exactly. Divided tongues appeared to them. "As of fire" is just a simile.

So, did these divided tongues literally appear? Hardly. What a comical, nonsensical sight that would have been.

The believers at Pentecost were not divided; they were united.

The dove is also simile. "Like a dove." Not the form of a dove. The Holy Spirit descended like a dove.

The one who descended on Jesus was God. The spirit of God.
but he is often pictured as a dove

That's one way for artists to render him. It's just not exactly accurate, scripturally.
Matt 3:16, "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went straightway out of the water: and , lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God (Holy Ghost) descending LIKE a dove, and lighting upon him..." The Holy Ghost isn't a dove. It was like a dove would land with form and gracefully giving Jesus a new look of light. Just like when Moses met the Father and Son on Mount Sinai and he became bright like a light in his countenance.

The next verse, #17, is an eye opener for those who have eyes to see. "And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." So, was Jesus "my" person and the Father of himself? That's what trinitarian ministers would want you to believe. Give Jesus a magic look about him to gain control over the minds of their flocks. If they can make you believe Jesus is magical then they can make you believe your ministers are above reproach and magical. The simple fact is, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are three completely separate personages that agree as one voice and purpose to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. There is no magic. Just God as a Godhead of three working for our eternal salvation and exaltation.

it is a mystery.

usually one thinks of him as a pigeon

but that is only one example

A dove.

Since I began the process of conversion, the doves keep flying into my house!

Also, the Holy Spirit is also seen as tongues of flame that rested on the heads of the Apostles, as in the Pentecost.

Also, wind, whirlwind or the Breath of God, or the Hebrew word ruach.

Many stories in scripture about the voice of God in the form of a wind.

Yes, thanks! I've never felt comfortable about the charismatic Catholics and their practices.

I love the concept of hearing God's voice in the wind.

The Holy Spirit is a force and has no body.
I'm not so sure. Jesus blew on two disciples and they received the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit alights on people like breath, like a dove. He alights without violence or intrusion. People just realize at some point that they are saved, or born again.

i thought of the Pentecostals

are there also Catholics who claim to speak in tongues?
.

Yes, they are called Charismatic Catholics.

Every Catholic priest or online podcaster that I know believes they are fake.
