Reagan couldn't say he was funding iran against iraq because it was banned, he couldn't say he was using Colombian cartels money and so on. Most all of the people in the Tea Party movement were either Republicans, disappointed Democrats, or libertarians. The libertarians tend not to vote for Democrats.

D.C. is a filthy septic pool of on-the-take bureaucrats and politicians. Trump saw that and pledged to 'drain the swamp'.....Trump is always America and Americans 1st. Trump takes all politicians to task. Trump promised a great economy and delivered. Trump's only downfall is, IMO, he didn't take the D.C. swamp serious enough and they banded together to make up lies about him (Russia) and attempt a coup for his whole term. Ask how many Ron and Rand Paul supporters voted for Trump. It doesn't get any more libertarian than Ron Paul.

Granted there are a few left-wing libertarians in the US, but they tend to gravitate toward Berni Sanders, Jill Stein, the Communist Party USA, the Socialist Party USA, or the Green Party. But for the most part, those I just listed tend to be leftists.
