Mike Johnson Chides Senate Republicans for Passing Funding Bill that Defunds ICE and CBP Specifically

In all my years working at airports guns are not something you see.
As undertrained ICE agents show
Dumb asses with guns nit a good tjing
Tell your party to fund the TSA then, so armed ICE agents are not needed to take their place.

Hell, even if they fund TSA today, so many have already quit in disgust that ICE may have to stay there for the foreseeable future.

Can you imagine the quality of recruits TSA will get to replace those who quit?

Your Party's TDS is literally killing Americans.

Yeah, but does a guy with a microphone get more leeway? How much does freedom of the press play into where the line is for reporting vs harassment enough to shove somebody? It shouldn't happen, but these days reporters are trying to create news to make their political opposition look bad. And they're doing it with the blessing of their management/ownership; no wonder the opinion that most people have of the media is pretty damn low.
Yes, that is a good point.

Reporters should not be shoving microphones into people's faces in an attempt to physically force them to answer questions.

1 recall that in 2003 when DHS was created by the GOP it was warned that the consolidation of these government agencies was a bad idea
2 the “ Dems” put forth the requirements that ICE obey due process
3 the bill was passed by the senate to fully fund TSA.
4. ICE is paid thru 2028 by the BBB
So why didn’t Johnson pass the senate bill?

A LEO does not get to bait, period.

Thune is a weak majority leader and should be replaced by a stronger person.
I've been trying to reach his office all week... they are not taking calls.... so he is also a coward...

As he said, did those Republicans even read the bill they signed?

It seems they were too busy checking on their charter plane reservations to realize that they were giving Democrats exactly what they want.

The Senate is the chamber least responsive to the will of the people, and this is a perfect example of it. I'd be interested to know how many of the approx two thirds of GOP Senators up for re-election this year voted for it. However many, they were smart to wait until after primaries are over, but they just gave their opponents' PACs a ready made campaign commercial.

Looking at those beady little rodent eyes, I'm reminded that this same guy asking if they even read the bill is the very same guy who sneaked a modification of House rules into the Save Act so as to remove the requirement to provide at least 24 hours notice before introducing those thousand page spending bills.

Oddly, I can't recall any of our so-called ''conservative'' friends offer even a slightest whisper about that. While I did happen to mention it, that tid bit was met with crickets chirping, predictably.

Heh heh. What a bunch of double-talking jive turkeys. Consistency certainly doesn't seem to be a quality beholden, observably.

It "was warned?" By whom?

Regardless, I thought it was a bad idea, myself. But even I did not expect that the Dems would be Dirty enough to use that as leverage to hold the safety of the nation's air travel hostage to their hatred for Donald Trump.

Was that what whoever you are about to say we "was warned" by said would happen?

ICE obeys due process under Trump as much as it did under Obama and even under Biden for those briefs months leading up the election when it started deporting people.

The difference was that Obama and Biden's ICE did not have suicidal idiots like Pretti and Good harassing them and assaulting them while armed with deadly weapons.

Because it is Trump Derangement, not love of criminal illegals that drives the anti-ICE violence.
3 the bill was passed by the senate to fully fund TSA.
And to zero out funding for ICE and CBP.

No thanks.

Kewl.

Now thanks to Trump EO, so will TSA be, no thanks to your party ("or not your party").
So why didn’t Johnson pass the senate bill?
Because it specifies zero funds for ICE and CBP.

It made no sense, because, in your ignorance, you assumed that my post would be an attack on Democrats and in support of Republicans.

Ignorance is forgiveable.

But then you refused to re-read it with me having educated you. That is deliberate ignorance, which is not forgiveable in debate.

My point was not partisan, where you are playing Mr. Partisan Deplorable.

An LEO does not get to bait. End of discussion.

Partisan?

Since I was criticizing Republicans are you accusing me of being a partisan Democrat?

What law is that, that you now say over-rides the 1st Amendment?
