If I need to eat on the super-cheap I just eat noodles with butter and a packet of tuna

Oh no, the good stuff starts from scratch and is pretty complicated.

There used to be a little Mom & Pop place just outside the base in Atsugi (a little to the west of Yokohama) that served great food. It had 4, maybe 5 tables and about 4-5 seats at a counter where you watch the chef prepare meals in an amazing small space.

I was always torn between the Ramen and the Pork Cutlet Katsudon.

Yeah, there was this place in Nagoya with bowls as big as your head. There used to be this great joint near Harvard too, but they closed about 15 years ago. None as good as my lunch yesterday though.
