If Trump had been born to a Mexican immigrant he'd be working in a taco truck right now or maybe a janitor. He's lived off his family name and his father's wealth for the longest time. But even with that said, he would have made more money if he simply invested his family inheritance in established stocks, bonds, mutual funds, whatever. When your family gives you hundreds of millions of dollars you're pretty much set and likely to make more. Before he won the presidency the first time, Bloomberg estimated he only had 70 million in liquid assets (cash), although his net worth was much higher but tied up in real estate and investments, so it's not like he had access to that money. No, he was not very successful at business. He plowed ahead with 400 million of Fred Trump's money backing him up for whatever he wanted to do and he ended up with 6 major bankruptcies as a result. The man couldn't even make money with a casino. By the mid 90s he was nearly 1 billion in personal debt and had to sell off his businesses and property to get out from under it. Trump didn't start making real money until he won the presidency. That's when he could ask for donations from all his followers, sell them cheap mugs, hats, shirts, ugly sneakers, etc.,make deals with foreign countries, create fake meme coins. The grift was on.
