How about that Green Economy?

All the tax subsidies required to make green energy seem profitable have taken their toll.

Madrid estimates 70 percent of the two million jobs which were lost in Spain since the start of the economic downturn were directly or indirectly related to the construction sector.

Last year the government introduced a hotly contested labour market reform that cut the country's high cost of firing workers and gave companies more flexibility to reduce working hours and staff levels in economic downturns -- changes that he argued would boost job creation.

And it's already known by economists that 2.2 jobs are being lost for every 1 green job created.

Spain had a huge housing boom where nobody lost money so that can not be used as an excuse as it is the Scapegoat of our economy.

Further Spain was the cheapest place to live in Europe thus it attracted a huge number of immigrants.

Only thing that failed was the government tinkering, instead of lowering taxes and building nuclear power to grow industry Spain chooses to subsidize Wind Turbines and Solar Farms.

30% unemployment is the result as well as expensive electricity.

You almost gotta laugh about how close the radical greenies came to overthrowing the American government. Obama thought it was a done deal when he appointed a communist who once led a looting and arson rampage to be on the "green jobs board". The day Obama appointed Van Jones was probably the day the American people finally realized what happened to their Country. Obama was forced to fire Jones and the democrat majority in congress was handed the most stunning defeat in a century. The mainstream media still doesn't get it though and they will support Obama even if they go broke doing it.

Laugh, they did get away with it, Cap and Trade and CO2 restrictions are being implemented across the Country. They by-passed the Senate.

The American people are clueless about what happened and is happening, nothing has changed, Obama is a 100% success. Everything Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Gore, and Clinton wanted, they have. I should ad Bush, Bush has done nothing to help, silence in the face of tyranny is direct support of tyranny.

Bush is supposedly an Oil man, where is the outrage or critisism. I guess Bush does live in a glass house.

I think we should start burning our food for fuel. Oh wait! We're already doing that.

We also turn in into alcholic beverages.

With CO2 in the beverage just for fun, what is your opinion of that, no carbonated beverages to save the environment, if you believe in global warming you are a hypocrite if you drink beer or Coca Cola.

Just asking though, should the people who believe stop being hypocrites and quit drinking Coca Cola.

Why is there no outrage over Coca Cola.

There is it is called the ALM Anti Lardass Movement.

Nancy Reagan started the "Just say no to Coke" movement.

That was a pretty lame anti-drug program, now we have Michelle Obama stating the same thing for a different reason, Just say no to Coke to be healthy.

Really, which economist? Provide the source AND the evidence.

Is there a link to this by pass of the Congress??

Also I was reading that T. Boone Pickens had given up on his wind energy. He spent 2 billion of his own money to find out that it just isn't feasable.

How about a Spanish economics professor's findings?

George F. Will - A Quixotic Pursuit: Green Energy Jobs - washingtonpost.com

The Spanish professor is puzzled. Why, Gabriel Calzada wonders, is the U.S. president recommending that America emulate the Spanish model for creating "green jobs" in "alternative energy" even though Spain's unemployment rate is 18.1 percent -- more than double the European Union average -- partly because of spending on such jobs?

Calzada, 36, an economics professor at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, has produced a report that, if true, is inconvenient for the Obama administration's green agenda, and for some budget assumptions that are dependent upon it.

Calzada says Spain's torrential spending -- no other nation has so aggressively supported production of electricity from renewable sources -- on wind farms and other forms of alternative energy has indeed created jobs. But Calzada's report concludes that they often are temporary and have received $752,000 to $800,000 each in subsidies -- wind industry jobs cost even more, $1.4 million each. And each new job entails the loss of 2.2 other jobs that are either lost or not created in other industries because of the political allocation -- sub-optimum in terms of economic efficiency -- of capital. (European media regularly report "eco-corruption" leaving a "footprint of sleaze" -- gaming the subsidy systems, profiteering from land sales for wind farms, etc.) Calzada says the creation of jobs in alternative energy has subtracted about 110,000 jobs elsewhere in Spain's economy.

In California its called AB 32. A bunch of other laws that tax and cap are being passed by other states, I can get a list together.

In Washington D. C. its being done by the EPA, again I will dig up the information and put something better together. To produce oil in Texas you need permits from the EPA, the permits are being denied, that is permits to operate refineries. I am paraphrasing poorly and will get back to this. Carbon is being regulated as a pollutant.

T. Boone did not see major Subsidies materialize.
