The problem is that any program set up, run and funded by the government to benefit society, is "socialism", not the definition being used by American conservatives. Those programs give their citizens a tremendous amount of freedom to plan and organize our lives.

I have lived my life with the full knowledge and understanding that my basic medical care is a given. Whether I am working full time, unemployed or retired, I never in my life have had to worry about having enough money to take care of my medical needs. I don't have to save up for treatments or worry about co-pays, these things are a given. That, in and of itself, is freedom you don't have. I don't have to worry about what happens to my health care coverage if I change jobs, or if I'm unemployed for any length of time. Health care is my right.

Imagine if you had that freedom.

No need to "imagine" anything. I earn my way, pay my premiums, co-pays and coinsurance. Imagine my freedom of not needing a f*cking thing from you.

For fuck's sake, would you just look up Cuba, Venezuela and other socialist countries and understand what socialism did to them? Not difficult unless you choose to keep your head up your butt and pretend that socialist policies don't do more harm than good.

Do you see people flocking to socialist countries? Hell, no. They are trying to leave them. Most come to America, the non-socialist country that will never sell out to socialists. Why do they come here? Because our poor people live better than most people in commie and socialist countries.

Our biggest socialist policy is the welfare state. And, yes, it has hurt more than it helped. When you subsidize people on a permanent basis, the problem doesn't go away and instead it gets worse. Poverty is worse because more depend solely on government rather than themselves. And they are so uneducated about how things work that so many still don't realize that they would be much further ahead if they stop listening to nanny government. Government has replaced fathers in many families. Kids aren't growing up to be functional adults. We have generations on welfare and the mentality of being entitled to things rather than learning to earn your way means the problem will continue to escalate. Government won't break the cycle of dependence. Our schools aren't even trying to teach students to be independent. They are teaching them that socialism is best, which means they all grow up feeling entitled and expecting others to provide for them.

This is socialism. It is unsustainable.

Venezuela is NOT a socialist country, nor is Cuba. It's communist. The last communist country remaining.

What is exaserbating poverty in America are the low levels of public education in low income areas. Education is the only real way out of poverty, but inner city schools in poor neighbourhoods receive insufficient funding to provide even the minimum standards of education required for meaningful employment in the 21st century. The USA is one of only 2 first world countries who spend less money to education the children of the poor than they do to educate the children of the rich. This century skills include enhanced computer skills. Inner city kids aren't even getting access to basic computer skills.

In some countries, MORE money is for additional resources and supports for children in poor neighbourhoods to get them the kind of education they will need to become contributing members of society. As with health care, Americans spend more than anybody else, and get less for their education dollars than any other country, and American parents spend more out of their own pockets for their children's education than any other first world country, and yet your education system doesn't even make the top 10.

Nope. In the 1930s we enacted more socialist policies because prior socialist policies (Federal Reserve and the 16th Amendment) prolonged a socialist fueled Depression. Then another big socialist agenda item was added to ensure a Permanent War Time economy that feeds so many rent seekers. Wilson was able to jack up income tax rates and government spending in WWI. Rates and spending were lowered in the 1920s, and the economy boomed until the Fed ruined it. Then the Progs went for more control as their agenda is not a healthy economy but rather More Power.

Every statement you have made about health care in other countries, is a lie.

Great Britain kept that child alive for a year on the taxpayers dollar. American healthcare insurance would have cut off payments the moment the child was diagnosed as terminal, and the payments had reached their maximum. Somewhere in the neighbourhood of $100,000 cap even with a good policy and that family would have been on their own.

I know of no treatments which are banned in socialist countries because of their health care. That's a lie Big Medicine tells stupid people to frighten them off of social medicine.

One conservative American woman was afraid of having a baby in Canada where abortion is both free and legal. She thought they would try to talk her into getting an abortion. She was shocked that when she got pregnant nobody at her doctor's office even mentioned the subject of abortion, although she did see pamphlets in the waiting room. Everybody was just focused on her care and making sure her baby was born strong and healthy. No paperwork to fill out, nobody asking for payments, just an entire medical team around her focused on the best possible outcome for her. She felt that Americans are being completely mislead and bamboozled about socialist healthcare.
