Q: What is a contested convention?

A: A way to ensure the voice of the people is heard and then checked for any obvious mistakes.

Q: How does a contested convention come about?
A: Simply too many wonderful nominees to choose from.

Q: How is a nominee chosen in a contested convention?
A: A candidate must secure a majority of delegates and pin them down for 10 straight seconds.

Q: How many normal, mentally balanced people will partake in the nomination process?
A: 17.

Q: What happens if no clear winner emerges after the first round of voting?
A: All 2,472 delegates immediately don Kevlar vests and tactical helmets.

Q: How many rounds of voting can there be?
A: 912 x 10^42

Q. What is an unbound delegate?
A. A national party representative who is allowed to undermine the democratic process if they feel like it.

Q: What happens in the second round, when many delegates are freed up from being bound to their original candidate?
A: The greatest power rush an Idaho county treasurer has ever felt in his life.

Q: What are the risks of a contested convention?
A: There’s a chance it could introduce an element of controversy into an otherwise congenial GOP nomination process.

Q: When will concerns about the candidates’ beliefs disappear completely and blind, frothing rage take over?
A: Around the fifth round of voting.

Q: Is there a scenario in which John Kasich wins the nomination?
A: Nope.

Q: Will there be riots?
A: Current convention rules require a quorum of 200 to form a riot.

Q: Who is likely to be the winner of a contested convention?
A: Donald Trump, regardless of whether he becomes the nominee or not.

Q. Is this a sensible and logical way to determine a major party’s presidential nominee?
A: Yeah, sure.

That's good stuff :-D

Funny thing is that Kasich is their only hope.

Jock-itch as president?

Yeah, it COULD happen.

IF he is picked by The House of Representatives after an election with two major party candidates and minimum two, more likely three (3, liberals) independents split the vote so widely that if The House doesn't move quickly the outcome will be a win for the rioting cults duking it out - the cult with the most survivors getting to appoint.

One Hell of a big "IF" up there......

“If it’s an open convention, it’s very likely [the nominee] would be someone who’s not currently running,” Paul Ryan’s fellow Wisconsinite Governor Scott Walker said last week. Walker’s declaration follows an earlier pronouncement that he would be “just fine” with leaving his state’s Sanctuary Cities in place.

Although Sen. Ted Cruz's political ideology is in line with Ryan’s brand of Washington think-tank conservatism—whether it’s Cruz’s record of pushing for expanded foreign worker programs or offshoring trade policies—party leaders seem to prefer Paul Ryan’s presentation, and are likely to use Cruz’s gains to ultimately throw delegates towards Ryan.

“If we don’t have a nominee who can win on the first ballot, I’m for none of the above,” said former House Speaker John Boehner, who exited the House shortly after teaming up with Ryan to give President Obama expanded trade powers. “I’m for Paul Ryan to be our nominee,” Boehner said.

Even in a contested convention, Donald Trump should win.

If he is 200 delegates short, he should have it.

The only difference is if the establishment has a chance to cannibalize itself or not.

Personally, I think that a race between Kasich and Sanders is America's best chance for a substantive debate on issues

Since most of Trump's delegates were chosen before he showed the world what a dildo he is, I doubt many of those will stick to him longer than the first ballot. The RNC makes the rules, it's their convention, not a candidate's. If the party decides to pick somebody else, the Trump and Cruz voters can vote for Hildabeast by staying home.

That is what commonsense suggests

However, political madness is necessary so we must add a pound of Trump's dumbluck to determine the appropriate outcome.
