It is a rare day indeed when I even partially agree with you, but you are (imho) partially correct.

BOTH parties are indeed fully capable of behaving like children. Asshat children at that.

There is very little incentive for the Republicans to treat the Dems with any deference knowing, as they do, how the Dems behave when they assume the majority status. But if you flip that around, it is, sadly, also true.

The reason I say you get only a "partial" score of "correct" is because it is also true that the Dems have had a ******* LOCK in a filibuster proof Senate and with a significant majority in the House AND with the nominal "head" of their Party also the head of our government in the Executive Branch.

So looking to blame the Republicans for obstructionism and the like is just plain silly. The fact that Congress has failed so massively on so many fronts is laid at the feet of that Party with their strong majority. And even their nominal "successes" (like Obamacare) are properly "credited" to the Dem Party ALONE. The trouble on that latter point is that NOW the "success" has become an albatross for the Dems. This explains why the Dem candidates are not running on their "record."

The public's DISMAL view of Congress is, therefore, more properly attributable to the Dem Party for now. And we are getting ready to bear witness to this soon enough.
