My wife and I played her sister and her husband. It's actually really fun, there's movement involved but much less than tennis. The ball is easier to control for beginners and doesn't zoom off the paddle. I suppose it does with high level players but not for most people. Good exercise too, I wish we had some courts closer to our house we'd play more often.

Yes, I played it a few times. Its tailor made for old duffers like me. :)

W have a new pickleball court installed here but nobdy uses it.

Of course, nobody uses the baseball field any more either. Or the roller hockey court. Or the tennis courts.

The basketball court gets used frequently, however, but I think it's only used by people who do not live in the community, but come here to use it.

I see a lot of parents/grandparents bringing their little ones to the general playgrounds, though.

It's interesting that all of that revenue is placed forth into the infrastructure, but it gets very little use at all.

I avoid any sporting activity on hard surface that could shred the remaining thin rubber bands I have left for tendons.

Despite the smaller courts and appearance of a low impact game. There is a definite rise in seniors with injuries from Pickleball.

Pickle ball is for those who cannot or will not learn to play tennis.

On those rare occasions when my brother isn't on the golf course, he and my SIL are playing pickleball! They LOVE it. Totally love it. lol. They also 🚵‍♂️ a lot.

PB is best as a doubles game, which requires 4+ players to agree to a time and place. That is why so many clubs are springing up, especially indoor courts which allow play in any weather. The only downside is injuries to new players who haven't engaged in physical activities for a long time.

Never played it, not sure sure what it is but would badminton not be closer to tennis than this?
sure it's more a team sport, not one on one

I thought it was fun in high school

as a typical teenage guy shuttle COCK made me laugh each time like most guys

I tried a couple times! Seeing as I was a pretty good tennis player, I didn't think it a problem to go out there cold & play well! I hadn't been out there on court in over 20 yrs. Being a Senior Citizen, I overrated by abilities! I tried it a couple times, falling down & picking up a few scratches both times! The ball just doesn't bounce high enuf! Having long legs, it's just hard getting down for that little bitty bounce! :omg:   :hyper:

I've only tried doubles, I'm sure singles would be an injury waiting to happen!

No, hip arthritis ended the running. I thought about changing my username but I did run a bunch of marathons so I figured it was ok to keep it.
Oh, that sucks, sorry to hear. There's a woman over on the vette board who is well into her 60s and still routinely participating in triathlons. She usually places really well, too. I was just reading another one of her threads is another reason i asked.

Really impressive. I think at that at that age, I'd be more content to just hang out on the golf course. But some folks seem to keep on going and pushing themselves to the limit, assuming their bodies permit.

Yes I know a few marathoners who are still at it in their 60s. They are all small women and one skinny guy. I usually ran at around 205 lbs. The good thing is I don't need pain meds and I can golf.
