Back pay for government-shut-down workers might not happen, Trump stated

I never understood the reasoning behind shutting the government down and then turning right around and giving all of the employees back pay for not working. If I were them I would be rooting for government shutdowns all the time, for as long a time frame as possible. Sitting at home and getting paid for not working is what the left actually want. It's socialism at it's finest.
 
All you need to know is members of Congress get paid during a shutdown while federal employees and contractors are at risk of not getting paid. That's a bunch of SH!T! (I'm not a federal employee or contractor, I just know what BS when I see it.) This is not a Democrat vs. Republican thing. Americans should hold both parties accountable. At the very least, Americans need to demand Congress (BOTH PARTIES) not get paid until the the shutdown is over. I bet it gets resolved real fast.

#1 The government isn't "shutdown", the government is currently up and running with some reduced functionality - more a "slowdown" instead of a "shutdown".

#2 About 70% of civilian federal government employees are still reporting to work, they just don't get a paycheck.

ALL republicans save one voted to keep the government open with continued funding while negotiations continued. Petulant democrats voted lock step--except for two, to hold the ENTIRE country hostage to their demands. End of story. These democrats do not have American's best interest in mind.

He has done a total about-face from 2019, because in 2019, it helped him politically, but in 2025 it is hurting him. This shows that Trump is not a man that cares about you (as a citizen) but only cares about his own political wins. You are just a pawn in his game.
