I was acquainted with a fire fighter in my youth and he advised me to keep a 5 gal. bucket of water next to where we lit fireworks off. Immediately following the use of each firework, we dipped them in the bucket of water. Good advice.Fireworks can do that. Many many moons ago I was visiting some folks in PA and went over to a friend from college's house who lived nearby. The house was a bit odd with lots of additions built on and some weird valleys in the roof. I happened to look out a bathroom window and saw a bunch of leaves on the roof starting to go up. Went out and told them and they didn't believe me at first, after all dad was an engineer and knew how to set off fireworks. I was all okay since it ain't my house and a couple minutes later they were like a clown car trying to get up there to put that thing out.
