I think it's sick that our the only soldiers who get news coverage are the ones who misbehave. Most people probably aren't even aware of the daring heroes of the Iraq war, but we've had a Medal of Honor winner who was one of the biggest badasses of our time. Here are just a few people who openly defy the liberal agenda by acting like heroes instead of girly men.
Sgt. Leigh Ann Hester was the first woman awarded the Silver Star since WWII (and that one was given to a nurse). She's a guardsman in an MP unit and was escorting a convoy through town May of last year when it was ambushed by more than 50 terrorists...FIFTY! Did she step aside? Hell no! Did she let a mere 50 armed, fanatical, foaming at the mouth towelheads mess her up? No, instead she proceeded to load a clip of whoopass into her M-16 and lay into these guys with a deadly fury. Before she was done giving out injections of quality American lead into these bastards, 27 of them were dead and 7 surrendered. Just for a little background, if you thought fanatical Muslims were unwilling to surrender, they're even less willing to surrender to women. Two other members of her squad got the Silver Star, three the Bronze Star, and two more the Army Commendation with combat V.
However, even this story pales in comparison to the sole Medal of Honor winner in this conflict, Sergeant First Class Paul Smith. In April of 2004, he was at the Baghdad International Airport when it was attacked by no fewer than 100 terrorists, and he didn't have a squad helping him, either. Did he let a measly century of troops coax him into surrender? Did he 'submit and comply' to get a chance to live through the experience? HELL NO! With American military precision and a surge of combat prowess few in the world are even capable of, this great hero of our time proceeded to put down almost FIFTY of those assholes BY HIMSELF before a lucky bullet took him down.
The sad part? Compared to the, literally, thousands of articles covering the Abu Grabass scandal, these two heroes got relegated to sharing a single article on page A-13 of the NYT. Pathetic.
The link below, however, lists a new book that actually profiles 19 recent American heroes in an effort to make up for their lack of media attention.
