Holy Smoke! We have a new Pope.

Francis took his name from the 13th century St. Francis of Assisi, who rejected wealth and wanted to care for the poor.

The last pope to take the name Leo, Leo XIII, focused much of his 1878-1903 papacy on advocating for the rights of workers, calling for fair pay, fair working conditions, and the right to join unions.
He also correctly highkighted that socialism was unjust and harmed the working class

Neither do Catholics.

Heck, I'm a seriously lapsed Catholic, and even i find that kind of comment offensive.
Kinda funny...... praying to statues always seemed counter to the word of God.

My view, ymmv.

Socialism wasn’t a thing back then fuckup.

Feudalism was.

Your opinion, and not data, stats, and fact.
Nothing in life is 100% other than death. As a market analyst for 48 years, I deal with probabilities. The probabilities strongly favor this Pope being against Trump because he is in favor of humanity and equality and Trump has none of that. In addition, the Pope has already criticized Trump and neither Trump or the Pope are likely to change what they believe and do.

So when you say opinion, it is knowledgeable and common sense, which you seem to have none of, as your OP and your responses show that to be the case.

Sorry, but your attempted deflection failed.

Wow you are an idiot

Marx wrote about it in 1848

Just sit back and let the adults talk
Okay, so a person writes about distribution of wealth in 1848.

And you jump to socialism from the 1300s.

Who said anything about the 1300s?

Are you ok? You brought up the first pope Leo, I highlighted how he thought on socialism and then you claimed socialism wasn’t thing…seriously are you high?

I'm not sure how this is gonna go.

Politically conservative...(popes usually stay out of politics)

Religiously extremely liberal...I'll be surprised if he doesn't begin blessing priest and boy marriages.

Define working class. Those that work for a pittance of $30 per hour? And some believe one should work hard for that correct? Laughable.

This is all I know about this Pope :dunno:

Pope Leo XIV Supports Open Borders — Previously Took Aim at VP J.D. Vance for Defending American Sovereignty

"While the corporate media hails Leo XIV as a centrist, a deeper dive into his public statements and social media activity reveals a different story: this pope is unabashedly pro-open borders and has openly criticized conservative leaders—most notably, Vice President J.D. Vance—for standing up for American sovereignty."

Ok fuckup, when did socialism become a thing?

He spoke some Spanish because he was stationed in South America, you ass.

Anyone who's learned Spanish knows it's Latin roots.......and if you speak Italian you're almost speaking Spanish. They're closely related. You just pronounce certain words differently. There are a few different words used in each language that are different, but if he's fluent in Spanish I can see why he would want to speak it, especially since most Hispanics are Catholic.
American, but didn’t speak English. Bottom line!
