The New Pope spent much of his career in Peru and he's staunchly against the church recognizing gay marriage. Initially I thought that since he was an American, he might be a liberal and hate Americans

I thought this was pretty interesting. Since Pope Leo XIV is pro-life and a registered Republican, chances are he voted for President Trump last November.

The newly elected Pope Leo XIV hails from Illinois, where he is registered to vote and therefore has a record of the elections in which he cast a ballot.

Turning Point USA president Charlie Kirk posted Thursday on social media platform X, shortly after Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elevated to pope, "He's a registered Republican who has voted in Republican primaries when not living abroad."

"Our data shows he's a strong Republican, and he's pro-life," he added.

Based on the images Kirk posted, Pope Leo XIV voted in last fall's general election, though not in 2016's or 2020's.

White smoke poured out of the Sistine Chapel chimney Thursday at 6:07 p.m. local time, signaling that a pontiff had been elected to lead the Catholic Church.

Robert Prevost comes the Archdiocese of Chicago. He served as an Arch Bishop in Peru for many years and is Naturalized Peruvian Citizen.

He becomes the First American Pope in the of 2,000 history of the Roman Church. His elevation to the Office Pope and the Bishop of Rome totally floored my wife (A former Cistercian Nun, she thought she live to an American as head of the Roman Church. crowds waiting to see the new Pontiff stretched St. Peters Square to the Tiber River. This is truly an amazing day.

Someone has to be chosen, and that person is probably going to be chosen because he's popular with the person choosing. It's how it's ALWAYS been done with the exception of hereditary appointments.

Leo has criticized Trump's policies on immigration and a few other things.

I was a Catholic for 23 years.

I never prayed to a statue.

I prayed to God, Jesus, and occasionally saints.

Then I realized that praying did no good, because no one is listening.
