I think you have to look at the demographics of the "Hollywood" population. People whose life ambition is to act (pretend to be someone you are not, for profit) are not a cross section of humanity. Also, they are as a general rule, more physically attractive than most.
Our culture also constantly peddles the romantic view of love and marriage that focuses on the intense physical attraction that one feels for another, and the myth that if this intense emotion is strong enough it will last for a lifetime. Which as normal people know is horse shit.
So the "fall in love," fall out of love, fall in love with someone else, fall out of love, and so on. Makes perfect sense if you are a teenager. Or the emotional equivalent of a teenager, as many actors and actresses are.
Unless you are gay, of course, then you love WILL truly last forever.
