For many, many years the function of counting the number of US citizens and residents living in the US and its territories was non-political and free from manipulation by any political party.
However, according to critics of the President Barak Obama
Administration, the Democrat Party is taking advantage of its capture of the White House and both houses of Congress to take a "more active role" in the US Census process including oversight of the information gathering by Obama appointees.
"The fight to protect the accuracy and independence of the 2010 census has just begun," said Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, the top Republican on a House subcommittee overseeing the census.
"President Obama has made clear that he intends to employ the political manipulation of census data for partisan gain," said the conservative congressman.
On Thursday, the Obama White House announced the selection of Robert Groves to head the Department of Commerce, the federal agency responsible for fulfilling the Constitutional duty of taking a census.
Groves once served in the Census Bureau as associate director of statistical design during the George H.W. Bush Administration.
According to his bio, he spent decades "researching ways to improve survey response rates."
Should the US Senate confirm him, Groves will take over the Commerce Department just months before the decennial count begins. As a result, there has been a great deal of infighting between the mostly-Republican conservatives and the mostly-Democrat liberals since the US Census is used as a basis for allocating billions of dollars to states and cities while apportioning seats in the US House of Representatives.
"While the results of the US Census have always been politically motivated, its process historically was meant to be free from partisan politics," said political strategist Mike Baker.
"The Democrat Party and their allies in the news media have always been in favor of certain groups wielding more power, including illegal aliens who are expected to vote for liberal-left Democrats," Baker warned.

So, where's the evidence?
Below is the full transcript of the interview with the acting director of the U.S. Census Bureau Thomas L. Mesenbourg:
CNSNews.com: Do you want to maximize the counting of illegal immigrants in the 2010 Census?
Mesenbourg: Our job is to count everyone that resides in the U.S. Count them once. So, certainly thats our goal to count every individual, every resident whether theyre documented, undocumented, whether they are citizens or non-citizens.
CNSNews.com: Why do you think the commerce secretary and you as well came to this event?
Mesenbourg: Well, getting a full and accurate count is job number one for us. The secretary recognizes that and we recognize that the Census Bureau and the Department of Commerce alone cant carry out a successful census. We need to partner with organizations that are viewed as trusted voices in their local community and certainly this coalitions going to go a far way in terms of accomplishing that goal.
CNSNews.com: They had mentioned during the actual event, local communities and their role in counting. How does that relate to the illegal immigrant counting in the census?
Mesenbourg: Well, the local communities are going to have a strong partnership program in each of the local communities and were going to focus on the hard to count geographic areas. That typically has been areas with high numbers of undocumented workers, but its much more diverse than that. So, what well do is well have Census Bureau folks out in those neighborhoods recruiting community organizations, faith-based organizations, and local media to get that message out that its safe, its easy and its important to file your 2010 census form.
CNSNews.com: I imagine it must be difficult counting them if they think its not safe.
Mesenbourg: Yeah, and its more than just the Census Bureau telling them that its safe. We need somebody that they view as a trusted voicesomebody from that community, whether perhaps the local pastor or somebody in a community organization that can assure them that its safe. One way to improve the safety is you get a census form, fill it out, return it by mail, and no one will come knocking on your door after that.

One issue that strikes at the heart of the Obama Census plan is the counting of illegal immigrants as if there were citizens. The liberal-left politicians want illegal aliens counted as American citizens in order to gather more votes, plain and simple. Recently in Georgia the high court struck down a law requiring voters to show proof of citizenship.
