So just because it hasn't happened doesn't make him a liar, it just means it hasn't happened yet.

My kids have a hard time understanding this concept as well. It's called "delayed gratification". You tell them "yes we will go to the store later". That doesn't mean we'll go to the store in one minute, or that if we don't go to the store by 6 pm we're lying. 8, 9, 10 pm and the following day are all "later".
