SpaceX has drop the cost per pound for space launches from the $20,000 the Space Shuttle cost to $1500 per pound and that price is likely to drop more when the Starship starts carrying cargo.

NASA could never doing anything as affordable as private industry. We could always go back to relying on Russian rockets. The Fed gave them over 3 billion in tax payer money.
