Man, how the game has changed. The CBS pregame show shows highlights from the season, and at least three hits would get you suspended today. Clothesline, body slam, and facemask are a few shown.

The highlights start at 1:25.

My Raiders got screwed that year, by a botched fumble non-call that put the Broncos in the Super Bowl. Had replay been in effect, the defending SB Champ Raiders would have faced the Cowboys like everybody expected that year.

I played college football in 1977.

Craig Morton, who died last week, was a former Cowboy who once had a competition going with Roger Staubach (Landry even was alternating them between plays, and both of them hated that) and had a chance to beat his nemesis in the Super Bowl. I liked Craig Morton but the Broncos were no match for that Dallas team.

Raiders would have been a better Super Bowl, I'm sure the "revenge" narrative for Morton was probably discussed.
